South Island regional news

Find out what's happening in the Nelson, Marlborough, Canterbury Westland, Otago and Southland Regions.

Kia ora Team South Island,

I am writing this from Nelson as we prepare for the Celebration evening tonight. Excited to be celebrating new members, milestone members and our 2 Fellows, Denis Daly FCA and Helen McEwen FCA. Last night we were in Blenheim for our Learn and Connect event where our Milestone Member Anne Jack CA made an awesome speech to the new members about her career as a CA. Thanks to all who attended and congratulations to our recipients.

South Island Conferences

Very shortly our Canterbury Conference will be open for registrations, and we have an outstanding day planned, I think the best ever in Canterbury, with Dave Letele as our inspiring closing speaker. Watch out for the registration invite for the 12th June. Note the 13th and 14th September for Queenstown Conference and October 16th for the Marlborough Nelson Conference.

Member Survey

We love to hear from you around your membership. As referenced in the article below I encourage you to take the time to share your views and go in the draw for an outstanding cash prize.

Proposed 2024 Update to NZICA Code of Ethics

The NZICA Regulatory Board has released an invitation to comment on ED2024-2: Proposed 2024 Update to NZICA Code of Ethics – Technology-related and Conforming Amendments (ITC on ED). The Regulatory Board is seeking comment on the ED and submissions are due by 4 June 2024.

The proposed changes will update the NZICA Code of Ethics (the Code) to reflect changes made to the International Code of Ethics by IESBA’s technology project (and other projects) and are primarily designed to ensure the Code is robust enough to guide the ethical behaviour of members as they navigate a landscape of evolving technology.

The proposed changes are intended to take effect on 15 December 2024 (early adoption permitted).

Find out more information on the proposed changes and obtain a copy of the ITC on ED.

Have a great week everyone
