Your journey to full membership

If you are a Provisional CA who’s completed the academic and mentored practical experience components of the CA Program, congratulations – you're now eligible to apply for full CA membership. You can do it online in just a few easy steps.

Step 1: Get your documents ready

You will need to complete and collect your Mentor's Final Report or MPE Tracker. You will need to obtain a professional referee and a member referee who will complete online references to support your application. These important documents help showcase your journey and readiness to become a full CA member.

References

You will need to nominate one professional reference and one member reference. These must be two different people who must not be related to you.

Your member reference must:

  • Be a current full CA, ACA or AT member of CA ANZ of at least three years standing; or
  • Be a current full member of a recognised professional body of at least three years standing. (A recognised professional body being any Global Accounting Alliance (GAA) body CA ANZ has a current Reciprocal Membership Agreement with.)

Your professional reference must:

  • Be able to testify to your professional experience having employed or worked with you in a professional capacity for a minimum of 12 months.

Both referees will complete an online verification. After you nominate them in your full CA membership application, they'll receive a link to the verification tool. They must approve the verification form before you can submit your application.

Mentored Practical Experience (MPE)

Once your documents are ready, apply online for Full Membership.

Step 2: Other documents you might need

Name change

If your name has changed and you want it shown on your CA Certificate, include one of the following items:

  • Marriage certificate.
  • Deed poll.
  • Other legal name change document.

Criminal conviction information (New Zealand Residents)

  • Criminal Conviction Information letter from the New Zealand Ministry of Justice. These can be obtained by requesting a Criminal Conviction History from the Ministry's website.
  • If you've lived in another country for 12+ months in the last 10 years, include police clearance certificates from each country.

Certificates must be:

  • Scanned colour copy of the original (black and white copies must be certified)
  • Dated within six months of your application.

All conviction details are kept confidential and each application is assessed individually on its own merits.

Public practice

If you are providing accounting services to the public and live in Australia or New Zealand, you may need a Certificate of Public Practice. Check the requirements on the Certificate of Public Practice page of the website to see if you need to apply for this alongside your full membership.

Step 3: Application fees

Apply within three months of meeting eligibility to pay a lower fee.

Eligibility is met on the date you completed your final CA Program subject or the date you completed your Mentored Practical Experience requirements, whichever is latest.

All fees are payable via credit card upon submission of your application.
