On Thursday 1 May, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) proudly hosted the first New South Wales New Member Ceremony for 2025 at the Fullerton Hotel Sydney. The evening marked a significant milestone, as 155 new Difference Makers were formally welcomed into the CA community, alongside over 200 proud family and friends.

The event, led by NSW Regional Manager Renee Feltrin FCA, featured esteemed guests, including NSW Regional Councillors and members of the NSW Young Chartered Accountants, NSW Public Practice and NSW Public Sector Advisory Panels adding to the night's inspiring atmosphere.

NSW Regional Chair Charlotte Campbell CA opened the ceremony with heartfelt remarks, highlighting the perseverance, courage, and dedication required to achieve the CA designation. She reminded attendees of the strength and potential that comes with joining this esteemed profession.

The keynote address, delivered by Ryan Hanson CA, provided valuable insights and encouragement to our newest members, setting the tone for an impactful journey ahead. Ryan’s speech emphasised the importance of continuous learning, personal development, wellbeing, vulnerability and being your authentic self at work. 

Ryan delivered four key reminders that are relevant for all CAs:

• Know yourself: understand what makes you tick, what you bring to the table, and what your point of difference is.
• Always keep learning: adapt to new ways of doing things in this ever-changing world.
• Get involved with CA: engage with the community and take advantage of the opportunities it offers.
• Expand your network: make meaningful connections, not just for the sake of it.

Following the keynote speech, the CA cohort received their New Member certificates from NSW Council Chair Charlotte Campbell CA. Under Charlotte’s guidance, the new members recited The Commitment, affirming their dedication to ethical leadership and professional excellence.

The ceremony was a proud moment for CA ANZ, celebrating the newest additions to a profession built on integrity and expertise. Congratulations to all our new members—we are eager to see the positive impact you will have on the world of finance and beyond.
