Celebrating member achievements and Tasmania’s first Life Member

On Monday, 31 March in Hobart, and Wednesday 2 April in Launceston, a dinner was held to celebrate the achievement of members achieving significant milestones.

In brief

  • Recognising the achievement of Mike Blake AM FCA, CA ANZ’s first Life Member from Tasmania.
  • On the evening various milestones were celebrated including Fellowship, Meritorious Service awards, Anniversary Milestones, CPP holders and CA Program Merit recipients.

Launceston Member Dinner

The annual member celebration dinner in Hobart and Launceston brought together members from all career stages, alongside students undertaking the CA Program, who were celebrating a significant milestone as members of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ).

Both events were hosted by CA ANZ President Grant Ellis FCA who highlighted the exceptional impact that recipients have had on the Tasmanian community and how they have embodied the CA ANZ commitment to upholding the profession’s rich tradition of contributing to the community without thought of fee or reward.

The Hobart ceremony saw Mike Blake AM FCA being bestowed Life Membership, joining an elite group of only 33. The introduction to Mike was delivered by CA ANZ Vice President Naomi Walsh FCA and touched upon Mike’s impact on the profession, community and CA ANZ. In a moving speech Mike highlighted the value that the designation has provided him and offered sage advice to those in the early stages of their careers to ‘just say yes’ to every opportunity and see the CA designation as a ticket with limitless possibilities. Mike encouraged the room to consider how they can give back to aid and shape tomorrow’s profession and their community.
