Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand welcomed members and guests to the annual North Queensland Celebration Evening, held on Thursday 30 April at Rydges Southbank Townsville. The evening brought together members from across the region to recognise professional achievement, welcome new members, and acknowledge significant career milestones within the North Queensland accounting community. With strong attendance from across the region, the event marked the largest CA ANZ celebration held in Townsville in the past five years, reflecting the strength and engagement of the North Queensland accounting community. 

The event was formally opened by Mark Doorly, CA ANZ Queensland Regional Manager, who served as Master of Ceremonies.  

A highlight of the night was the presentation of 16 awards, recognising excellence, commitment, and longevity within the profession, including: 

• CA Program Merit Award 
• Certificates of Public Practice 
• 25-Year Milestone Award 
• 40-Year Milestone Award 
• New Member admission 
• Fellowship admission 

Attendees heard a regional update from Nik Rozis CA, North Queensland Regional Chair, who shared insights into current priorities and future opportunities for the region. 

A purposeful address was delivered by Matthew Green FCA, CA ANZ Vice President, who spoke on professional values and formally led The Commitment for both current and newly admitted members. 

The Fellowship segment of the evening included a personal address from Todd Hodkinson FCA, North Queensland Regional Committee Member and Fellowship recipient, who reflected on his professional journey and the significance of Fellowship within CA ANZ. 

The formal program concluded with a closing toast delivered by Chris Townend FCA, Queensland Region Council, marking the collective achievements celebrated throughout the evening. 

The 2026 CA ANZ North Queensland Celebration Evening provided a meaningful opportunity to acknowledge professional excellence, strengthen regional connections, and reinforce the shared values of the accounting profession across North Queensland. 

Looking ahead, the year to come presents an exciting period for the North Queensland region, with continued opportunities to strengthen professional connections and support member development across all stages of the profession.
