Joint Submission on consumer data right - joint accounts

Our joint submission supported a single definition of a joint account, and a single approach to consent, that can be applied across industry sectors.

On 24 May 2021, CA ANZ with CPAA provided a joint submission to the Treasury on the proposed ‘opt-out’ model to manage consents from joint accounts to share data.

We did not support an ‘opt-out’ model and indicated support for consent to reflect the underlying authorities to transact on a joint account.

We did support making the definition of a ‘joint account’ in the Consumer Data Right (CDR) regime applicable across industry sectors. In doing so, we did not support the segregation of joint accounts into simple and complex as this would add a layer of complexity that provided no benefit for the consumer.

We would like to thank the members of CA ANZ and CPAA for contributing to our submission.
