Answers to common questions about the CA Library.

Who can access the CA Library?

All members of CA ANZ can use the CA Library. This includes full and provisional members.

How do I access CA Library?

You will need your CA ANZ email address and password to log into the CA Library. The same username and password combination is used for all CA Library resources.

How much does it cost to use the CA Library?

All CA Library resources and services are complimentary.

What resources does the CA Library offer to me?

The CA Library is a predominately digital library that offers access to eBooks, audiobooks, newspapers, and journals in subject areas including:

  • accounting
  • auditing
  • finance
  • taxation
  • career development
  • practice management
  • personal development
  • wellness
     

Digital resources are accessed on platforms CCH, EBSCO, OverDrive/Libby, ProQuest and VitalSource.

What services does the CA Library offer to me?

Library services provided to members include research, Book a Librarian and presentations for groups of members, such as firms or finance teams. 

The library publishes a monthly What's New email. You can subscribe to the email in the CA ANZ member preference centre.

Where is the CA Library?

The CA Library is online and can be accessed from the CA ANZ home page, and from My CA. There are two physical libraries - in Sydney and Wellington. These are not open to members. The CA Library team will access hardcopy books in these libraries and will arrange for their delivery to members.

How do I borrow an eBook?

Digital resources, such as eBooks, audiobooks and articles, are borrowed or accessed from our digital platforms. These How2 articles step you through how to access each:

Loan periods are set by the CA Library and can vary depending on the item.

How can I access The Australian Financial Review

The Australian Financial Review – a plain text version of articles in the day’s paper, is provided to members from EBSCO.  The daily file is typically available from AEST 8.30am.

How can I access Master Tax Guides?

Master Tax Guides are accessed from CCH. The library receives annual editions for Australia and New Zealand at the start of the calendar year, and a year-end edition for Australia at the end of the calendar year.

Do you have CA Program course study guides?

Yes, current study guides are available from VitalSource, older guides are accessible from the CA Library catalogue. VitalSource copies can only be read online and have a short loan time. Older guides can be downloaded in PDF from the CA Library catalogue.

Do you have past CA Program exam papers in the CA Library?

No, past exam papers are not held by the CA Library.  Typically, the CA Program does not make past exam papers available.

Can I reserve an eBook/audiobook?

Some eBooks and audiobooks can be reserved but not all our digital platforms have a reservation function. See the How2 articles for our vendor platforms for more information.

Can I renew my eBook/audiobook?

Yes, eBook and audiobook loans can be renewed, provided there isn't another member waiting to access the book.

How do I return my eBook/audiobook?

eBooks/Audiobooks are returned automatically once the loan period expires. Some platforms will send you a reminder that the loan is expiring, and some will allow you to return the item earlier than the loan period.

Are there fines for overdue eBooks/audiobooks?

Digital items are returned automatically once the loan expires so they cannot attract overdue notices or fines.

Where do I return my hardcopy books?

Hardcopy books need to be posted back to the CA Library - Sydney or Wellington, at member’s expense. Items can be left at your closest regional CA ANZ office. Notify the concierge that the item is to be returned to either the Sydney or Wellington CA ANZ office.

Do we have overdue fees?

No, but we will invoice a member if a hardcopy item is not returned after several attempts to contact the member. We contact members by email:

  • 7 days after the due date.
  • 15 days past the due date if the item hasn't been returned.
  • A final email reminder will be sent 25 days after the due date.
