Check your eligibility for CA ANZ membership

To ensure that your learning needs are satisfied, CA ANZ offers two different learning experiences to choose from.

Take a look at the pathway to membership outlined below, and select between two different learning options that will assist you in completing the additional study you will need to complete in order to apply for full CA ANZ membership.

Member of the following bodies:

  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka)
  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP)
  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN)*

Step 1: Designated Overseas Member Body

Pre-Qualifications:

  • You must have gained membership through the relative Professional Pathway Programme
  • You must be a current member of good standing of the overseas member body and comply with CPD requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years' post membership with home body
  • You are currently living in Australia or New Zealand

*NOTE: ICAN members will need to sit the Financial Reporting and Accounting module prior to step 2. More information can be found here

In addition to the above, you are strongly encouraged to ensure that you will be able to meet CA ANZ's reference requirements as outlined in the Special Admission to Membership Form linked to under Step 3 below. On completion of Capstone/International Pathway's Program, you will be required to supply 2 CA references in support of your application. CA members of your home body will not be accepted as references unless they are also current full members of CA ANZ. Review the relevant section of the Special Admission to Membership Form for details of who may act as referees.

Step 2: Select your Pathway & Apply for Provisional Membership

  • Once you have decided your pathway option, notify the Enrolments and Admissions Team via assessment@chateredaccountantsanz.com. They will consider your application for Provisional CA Membership and contact you with further instructions.

Processing times are approximately 20 business days except during peak periods where longer processing times may occur.

Step 1: Designated Overseas Member Body

Members of the following bodies:

  • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ)
  • The Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC)

Step 2: Apply for Full CA ANZ Membership

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

You may apply for special admission to CA ANZ if you:

  • are a current full member of ACCA in good standing who has completed ACCA’s professional programme
  • have at least five years post-admission experience
  • are currently living in Australia or New Zealand

If you are a current or former Chartered Accountants Program candidate, your progress through the Program will be considered during the assessment of your application.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ)

Direct membership: If you are a current CA member of ICAZ in good standing who gained membership through ICAZ's professional program you can apply for full CA ANZ membership by completing our Special Admission to Membership Form to apply.

The Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC)

Under the existing agreement there is mutual credit recognition between SAC's Singapore Qualification Programme (Singapore QP) and CA ANZ's CA Program.
This agreement relates to two professional level modules (given below), which allow the Singapore QP and CA Program Candidates specific exemptions from each other's qualifications.

The mutual credit recognition applies to the following modules:

  • Financial Reporting (FR) module of the Singapore QP and the Financial Accounting and Reporting (FIN) module of the 2015 or later CA ANZ CA Qualification;
  • Assurance (AS) module of the Singapore QP and the Audit and Assurance (AAA) module of the 2015 or later CA ANZ CA Qualification.

In addition to applying for membership to CA ANZ you will need to apply for a Certificate of Public Practice (CPP) if you plan to provide services to the public as a Chartered Accountant. You may also apply for Audit Rights to enable you the right to practice and perform audit duties in Australia and New Zealand if you are living in Australia or New Zealand.
