Regional Manager update
Hope you, your teams and your families are keeping well.
Welcome to our new members hub specifically tailored for Victorian members. Our members hub brings together a great range of relevant and timely information for Victorian members.
As we continue to monitor updates from the Victorian Government, including the next major announcement on 1 November, we will share the latest information from Government and interpretation from CA ANZ on this members hub.
Thanks again for your continued support during what has been a very trying year, and I look forward to the opportunity to see you in early 2021.

Regional Chair update
Spring is here, the grand finals are upon us, the horses are racing and the Bledisloe Cup is up for grabs. September to November is an exciting lead-up to Christmas and hopefully we can enjoy this time with a bit more freedom and the opportunity to spend more time with friends and family.
During October we held, the first in history, Annual General Meeting (AGM) of a Regional Council by video conference. As Chair I gave an update about our member bodies’ activities in Victoria over the previous year. And what a very different year it was, the bushfires, floods and COVID-19 pandemic have tested us beyond anything imaginable and presented a huge challenge for our members and our member organisation. It was pleasing to report that CAANZ responded quickly and provided a lot of additional support and information and moved to online delivery of conferences, events and education which enables us to make a positive difference to the lives of our clients, their businesses and the communities in which we all live. This was also complimented with very active advocacy initiatives to influence decision makers to make sound decisions in such uncertain times and ultimately to navigate a strong path to recovery.
Within the Victorian region our Councillors continued to represent our members by taking responsibility for portfolios and attending advisory panel meetings to ensure accurate and robust feedback is communicated back the CAANZ. We also worked closely with the Victorian CAANZ management team to collaborate and advise on events and initiatives to improve members’ services. Initiatives we are very proud to have been involved in included the Career Transition Toolkit, the Mentor Exchange Program and our relationship with Beyond Blue, a very important resource at these stressful times.
I was also very pleased to announce the outcome of the Victorian Councillor elections and welcome Fiona Hansen CA and Robert Dennis FCA to represent our members on the Council for three years from January 2021. Following this announcement, we have called for nominations to fill one appointed position which becomes vacant this year. Nominations can be received up to 6 November after which the Council will approve the appointee.
Thank you to all who called in to the Victorian AGM and I invite all members to register and call into the 92nd CAANZ AGM on Thursday 3rd December. Members will consider the Annual Report and Financial Statements for the 2019/2020 year.
During September a sub-committee of the Council reviewed a number of Fellowship nominations and through this annual process we are constantly amazed at the outstanding achievements and influence many of our members have either in their career, business, community or CAANZ. Nominations have been forwarded for consideration by CAANZ Council and we look forward to being able to celebrate with our new Fellows early next year.
I have previously mentioned the CA Capability+ learning tool. This is a new diagnostic tool which creates a learning plan for Chartered Accountants. Please login to MyCA and begin to formulate a plan that suits you and your aspirations as a professional. There are many events, courses and resources, from world leading providers, which will add significantly to your development.
As Councillors we welcome the opportunity to have direct participation on various panels and attendance at meetings. If you are involved in a group or forum and wish to have a Councillor attend please don't hesitate to connect with Regional Manager Victoria and Tasmania, Andrew Quinlan in the CA ANZ Melbourne office who will coordinate with your group.
We have all certainly done well in the very restricted environment we have endured over the winter and I wish you all health and happiness as we begin to exploit a bit more freedom and a bit more warmth. Stay connected with each other and CAANZ and reach out and ask for help if you feel like you need it and it is OK to ask RUOK?

We’ll keep track of your CPD
CPD purchased from the CA ANZ store from 1 October 2020 will automatically appear in your log. Once you’ve completed the training, simply confirm the new professional development record to see how it adds to your CPD wheel. You can also enter CPD records from other providers. In your annual notifications, you will be asked to confirm the CPD hours completed in the year. By logging all your CPD records, in your CPD Log on My CA, it will be easier to know how many CPD hours you have undertaken at any point in time.
