- Bushfire support
- NSW Council and Young CA Panel member engagement
- Discussion groups - invitation to join in Parramatta and Sydney CBD
This is our first column for 2020 and it is hard to believe that we are in February already. Sadly, since our final column for 2019, we have seen the devastation and heartbreaking impact of the bushfires. Our thoughts are with those of our members who have been affected and their communities. CA ANZ has created a website page that lists a range of resources and we are coordinating a program for members to register their interest to volunteer their professional services to those in need.
These resources will be reviewed and updated regularly. If you are aware of other information or support that may be useful, please let us know. Equally, if you or any member you know needs assistance from us, please get in touch.
This year, the NSW Council will be chaired by Peter Woodley FCA and the Vice Chair is Alison Flemming FCA. We welcome new Council members, Joyce Low FCA and Joanna Balcomb FCA. I'd also like to take this opportunity to express sincere gratitude to our 2019 Chair, George Bogdanovic, who dedicated himself to the role in the interests of members. George continues as a member of Council for 2020, which is important for the continuity of the initiatives started last year, including seeking more and different opportunities to engage with members and seek feedback.
The other members of Council for 2020 are:
- Kate Boorer FCA (who is the NSW representative on the CA ANZ Council)
- Sam Ayoubi CA
- Peter Wells FCA
- Ben Wong CA
- Camille Woods CA.
These members are your representatives and would be very pleased to hear from you if there are any issues, questions or feedback you would like to provide, and can be contacted via email.
Our NSW Young CA Panel has new office bearers for 2020 as well. Charlotte Fehon CA is the new Chair and Andrew Campbell CA, the Vice Chair. Charlotte and Andrew are looking forward to working with the YCA panel this year on events and initiatives to engage our young members, including our Provisional Members. And of course, our NSW regional office team is here to support you. Please contact me if you need any assistance.

YCA Events in 2020
Building CA networks also gives members a connection to other CAs; and your peers can often act as sounding boards on issues or professional matters. We therefore encourage members to take every opportunity to engage with colleagues, either in a professional environment or a social scene.
There are various events for young members planned for 2020, including the following – put a note in your diary and watch out for invitations for these events:
- YCA Series (Series 1, Wednesday 2 April)
