- Introduction of NSW Regional Manager
- NSW Council and member engagement
- Upcoming online events and training
As the new NSW Regional Manager, I am looking forward to opportunities to meet members in NSW. I was previously the Regional Manager SA/NT based in Adelaide and am looking forward to relocating to Sydney, once current restrictions are eased, and getting to know NSW.
As advised by the NSW Chair last month, I am a Fellow CA with past experience in financial management and business advisory services in a wide variety of industries. I have been working for CA ANZ for approximately six years and have enjoyed the member engagement aspects of my roles.
I have appreciated the opportunity of getting to know NSW Council and other committee members, albeit via zoom meetings, over the last month. I look forward to working with these dedicated members and supporting them in undertaking their roles and achieving our key aims and objectives. Council’s last meeting included an update from our new CEO, Ainslie van Onselen, as well as updates on changes to the CA Program and online exams, and other CA ANZ initiatives.
While we are constrained by the current circumstances, Councillors and committee members are doing their best to continue to support members and engage with you where possible and we encourage you to provide your feedback either to me or the NSW Council.
Part of our focus this year was to expand engagement across the wider Sydney metro area and to assist us with this focus we have appointed Michele McCulloch CA, as NSW Relationship Manager Sydney Metro. Michele is also a Chartered Accountant and has recently been working at CA ANZ in an Account Management role and will take up her new role later in July.
In the next couple of months nominations will open for two elected positions on NSW Council and we will advise members of the open date. In the interim, if you have the commitment and the time to contribute to your professional organisation and support your CA colleagues, you may want to review the Regional Councillor’s position description, a copy of which can be downloaded from the website.
Fellowship Nominations 2020
Nominations for advancement to Fellowship are currently open and close on 31 July 2020. A member being nominated must have demonstrated excellence through outstanding achievement in, and contribution to, the profession, business and/or the community.
The NSW Council is part of this nomination and review process and they look for evidence that the members being nominated meet the relevant guidelines and have contributed over and above their day to day role, exemplifying the highest attributes of a CA.
I encourage you to think about your CA colleagues and what they’ve contributed to the profession. Nominations are open now and view the relevant Guidelines and form.
Lastly, we hope to continue to communicate with you remotely throughout this period until events can be resumed once restrictions are lifted.

To continue to support members during this time CA ANZ has been running a variety of online events, particularly in regard to COVID-19 initiatives and I encourage you to take advantage of CA ANZ’s training and updates.
