An update from the Chair of the NSW Regional Country Chairs Group

What a year it has been since I last introduced myself in March 2021. With Covid-19 restrictions, floods, and all kinds of bad weather across most NSW Regions, it’s been a tough year for sure.

To recap, the region with over 5,200 members divides NSW, outside of the Sydney Metropolitan area, into nine regional areas across: Albury & Wodonga; Riverina & Southern Tablelands, Illawarra & South Coast, Newcastle & Hunter Valley; Central Coast; Mid-North Coast; North Coast; Northwest; and Western. Our purpose is to ensure that members in regional NSW are supported by and engaged with CA ANZ, and receive relevant, tailored opportunities and communication on key initiatives. The group Chairs are supported by local committees ensuring broader local engagement.

After many Zoom meetings, The Regional Country Chair Group met for the first time in person on 28 April 2022 and the top three areas noted were:

  • The impact of skills shortage and staff retention.
  • Our drive to improve engagement across NSW regions, support members needs and networking opportunities and,
  • To provide feedback to the CA ANZ advocacy team to ensure issues affecting Regional Australia are brought to the attention of the Government.

Regarding events, we are delighted that we can look forward to our Annual Tax Update Roadshow with Michael Croker CA in June and July. Michael will address all things Tax and Politics and with our change in Government this is sure to be a session you cannot miss. For more details, please click here.

We are looking forward to providing each region technical training and more importantly, networking and social events over the coming months.

Please be in touch with me if you have any issues that you would like me or the CA Team to support you on.

Kind regards,
Joshua Robb CA
NSW Regional Country Chair Group.
