On Thursday 25 September 2025, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) hosted the NSW Annual Charity Event, continuing our meaningful partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).
Attendees enjoyed high tea while hearing from an inspiring lineup of speakers who shared vital research, personal stories and lived experiences.

Ainslie van Onselen, CEO of CA ANZ, opened the event by reaffirming CA ANZ’s commitment to NBCF and their shared mission to achieve zero deaths from breast cancer. The introduction highlighted how NBCF-funded research benefits people affected by breast cancer and advances our understanding of other cancers.
Cleola Anderiesz, CEO of NBCF, announced the foundation’s first landmark investment of $25 million to stop the recurrence of breast cancer. This significant funding aims to drive research that will save lives and improve outcomes for people diagnosed with breast cancer.

Professor Alexander Swarbrick spoke about his laboratory’s mission to develop new treatments for breast and prostate cancer and melanoma, especially where current therapies are not effective. His research, funded by NBCF, is critical to improving survival rates and quality of life.

Kathy Linaris, NBCF Community Ambassador, shared her personal journey with breast cancer.
“I’m living a boring life and I’m happy with that. And that is exactly where I want to be.”
Debbie Platz, Deputy Commissioner of Operations at NSW State Emergency Service, closed the speaker program by encouraging attendees to see resilience as the ability to bounce forward, not just recover, after health challenges.

The event concluded with a raffle draw, featuring fantastic prizes from generous sponsors.
