Meet our 2025 NSW Regional Councillors
Regional Councils act as a valuable conduit of information and views of members in the regions across Australia and New Zealand.
In brief
- Meet two of our new NSW Regional Councillors: Genevieve Gillies CA and Susan Hooker CA.
Last year, we proudly featured our 2024 NSW Regional Councillors in the below series of articles:

This year, we congratulate our 2025 NSW Regional Chair, Charlotte Campbell CA, and Vice-Chair, Ross Hawkey FCA. We are also excited to welcome two new faces to the council: Genevieve Gillies CA and Susan Hooker CA.
Genevieve Gillies CA

I’m currently working as an equity research analyst at Barrenjoey, covering the metals and mining sector. My role involves understanding all the ins and outs of gold, copper and rare earths companies listed on the ASX, from the geology and mining processes to the financial reports. Prior to this I worked as a tax consultant both at Barrenjoey and PwC.
I’ve always loved accounting – so much so that I completed two university accounting subjects in high school! There was no doubt I was going to become a Chartered Accountant after university. I set my sights on this goal and successfully achieved it in 2022. What I love about being a CA are the transferrable skills I have learnt that have allowed me to pivot between roles.
I am new to the NSW Regional Council this year. I am excited to understand how I can help the broader CA community as well as work with some incredibly impressive other council members! I encourage our members to attend events and get involved. If there is one thing I’ve learnt over my (short) career, it's that meeting new people from different walks of life is incredibly rewarding and insightful. You never know who you’ll meet or what you’ll learn.
Susan Hooker CA

“I’m an accountant” tends to be how I introduce myself when meeting someone new. I am an accountant, but I am so much more. I am fascinated by the lifecycle of plants, sustainable slow living, cooking, and learning how to cook what I grow. Growing up in country Victoria, where AFL dominated, you might not guess my love for NRL and particularly the Brisbane Broncos – a passion instilled and shared by my husband of 13 years.
Having spent my entire adult life either studying or working in the profession, I hold a Bachelor of Business (Accounting), Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting, and more recently, membership with Certified Practicing Accountants in Australia. I cut my public practice teeth with KPMG before venturing into the not-for-profit space in 2011, where I found myself deeply invested in the higher education sector.
As the Associate Director of Corporate Services at Charles Sturt University, I lead functions covering treasury, statutory reporting, asset accounting, tax, and insurance. I find myself regularly leaning into my CA credentials in a number of ways. Having the support of CA ANZ behind me has opened doors to a range of opportunities, and I am keen to give back to the profession that has afforded me these opportunities. My career path has spanned not-for-profit, small business, public practice accounting, and tax sectors, with my start coming from KPMG. Living and working in Wagga Wagga, I am a passionate advocate for regional people pursuing their career goals fostered through education.
Having recently commenced the NSW Regional Councillor role; I have found inspiration in our member ceremonies and conversations with new CAs at the beginning of their journey. There is much to be said for “sending the elevator back down” and helping our CA communities achieve rewarding careers. We have so much to learn, and the learning goes both ways as we navigate professional accounting alongside technological advances, social, and sustainable viewpoints.
