A Night to Remember: Darling Downs and South West Gala Celebration 2025
Honouring excellence and celebrating community.
On Thursday, 11 of September 2025, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) hosted the Darling Downs and South West (DDSW) Gala at the beautiful Empire Theatre in the heart of Toowoomba. It was a fantastic evening of connection, inspiration, and celebration, bringing together professionals, leaders, and emerging talent from across the region. The event awarded our New Members, Certificate of Public Practice, 25 Year Milestones, 50 Year Milestones and Fellowship awardees.
Guiding the evening with warmth and expertise was our MC Mark Doorly, CA ANZ Regional Manager, who kept the night flowing seamlessly. Mark’s deep connection to the region and its members added a personal touch that resonated with attendees.
The evening featured engaging speeches from Benjamin Horner FCA, DDSW Regional Chair, reflecting on the achievements of the past year and the exciting path ahead. His words celebrated the resilience and innovation of our members, while reinforcing the importance of collaboration and leadership in shaping the future of the profession.
Followed by an encouraging speech from Harish Murugesan, YCA Panel Member. Harish captivated the audience with his insights into the evolving landscape of finance and entrepreneurship. Drawing from his own journey, Harish inspired attendees to embrace change, think boldly, and lead with purpose. He also shared what being a Chartered Accountant means to him - highlighting the values of integrity, adaptability, and lifelong learning that have shaped both his career and personal growth.
Beyond the formalities, the gala was a celebration of community. Attendees enjoyed a night of networking, laughter, and shared stories, strengthening bonds across generations and sectors. The atmosphere was filled with optimism and pride, as members toasted to their collective achievements and the exciting future ahead.
