Nominations open for appointments from August 2026 for Australian based members
In brief
- CA ANZ is calling for expressions of interest in being appointed to the Australian Professional Conduct Oversight Committee as a lay member
- CA ANZ is calling for new appointees for the Australian Disciplinary Bodies, including the Professional Conduct Committee and Disciplinary Tribunal
- Both CA ANZ members and non-members are being sought
- Current members say their terms have been a great opportunity to contribute to the maintenance of high standards in the profession
Professional Conduct Oversight Committee
The Professional Conduct Oversight Committee has oversight responsibility for the integrity, timeliness and effectiveness of CA ANZ’s:
- Disciplinary procedures
- Practice Quality Review Program
- Continuing Professional Development Monitoring Program.
Lay members of the Professional Conduct Oversight Committee must be independent of CA ANZ and have substantial business or professional experience so as to exercise oversight responsibility for these important functions of CA ANZ, in the context of Australia’s co-regulatory environment.
Australian Disciplinary Bodies
The independent disciplinary panels, and their members, are a pivotal part of the success of CA ANZ’s conduct and discipline program. The program investigates complaints against members and makes disciplinary decisions in relation to their conduct. The panel members are the decision makers in relation to all complaints and disciplinary matters and are crucial to upholding the high standards of the profession of chartered accountancy. Each panel is a mixture of CA ANZ members and members of the public.
CA ANZ’s disciplinary panels are made up of people with a diversity of skills and personal and professional background. Panel members can be located anywhere in Australia.
This is a rewarding role with the important function of enforcing professional standards and ethical behaviour in CA ANZ members.
Grace Kelly, who is the current Chair of the CA ANZ Disciplinary Tribunal, says that “the Disciplinary Tribunal is an excellent opportunity to make an impact and contribute to the vital work of maintaining the standing of the Chartered Accountant designation”.
Kevin Neville FCA, current Chair of the Professional Conduct Committee, says that “being a member of the Professional Conduct Committee is an exciting opportunity to be actively involved in the important CA Disciplinary process. I would encourage committed and skilled CAs to put themselves forward. It is extremely rewarding”.
Members of the disciplinary panels are generally appointed for a three-year term, with option for re-appointment. Interviews will be taking place in April or May 2026 for consideration by the Professional Conduct Oversight Committee and CA ANZ Board prior to appointment commencement by 1 August 2026.
