Every year, #AuditorProud Day gives us the opportunity to recognise the people behind the profession. This year, on Thursday 24 September, we mark its twelfth year by celebrating the auditors whose expertise, integrity and professionalism help keep trust alive in businesses, charities, not-for-profits, government and local communities every day.
Real stories, real impact
Auditors’ stories take centre stage in this year’s campaign. Whether they work with a large listed company, a local charity, a community sporting club or a not-for-profit delivering essential services, auditors help people rely on the information in front of them. By sharing real experiences, #AuditorProud Day shows audit as a modern, meaningful and rewarding career where curious, driven people can keep learning, solve problems and make a genuine difference.
This public value is still recognised. CA ANZ’s Investor Confidence Survey continues to show strong confidence in audited financial information, with independent auditors remaining the most trusted intermediary when it comes to protecting investors’ interests. That confidence does not happen by accident. It reflects the expertise, independence and integrity auditors bring to their work.
It’s all about the people
Behind every audit is a person — someone balancing work, family, community, study, volunteering and life outside the office. Auditors are parents, carers, mentors, teammates and community contributors, with diverse interests and motivations. That human diversity is one of the strengths of the profession, and it is why this year’s campaign puts members and their stories front and centre.
Audit is also a career of variety and possibility. Auditors use judgement and expertise to navigate complex questions, work across different sectors and industries, and build transferable skills that can open doors in Australia, New Zealand and around the world.
Pride in the profession also means being honest about what good audit depends on: strong ethics, high standards, a clear professional identity and regulation that keeps pace with community expectations. These foundations support the trust auditors earn through their work every day, while helping the profession continue to evolve as technology and sustainability reshape business and reporting.
