Mentor Exchange Programme Launch – Tuesday 15 October

We were delighted to launch the 2019 Mentor Exchange Programme on Tuesday 15 October. This was a wonderful opportunity to connect the skills and knowledge of over 32 experienced members with 12 early-career as well as 19 mid-career CA’s. Getting involved as a Mentor is extremely rewarding as an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on another member’s career. Mentees can build professional connections and benefit from an experienced member’s knowledge and insights. We look forward to watching these relationships progress and flourish in the coming months.

Emerging Leaders: Career Insights & Speed Networking – Thursday 17 October 2019

The Auckland Emerging Leaders Group held their annual Speed Networking event for 60 guests at the Bluestone Bar on Thursday 17 October. Young Accountants had the opportunity to ask some of NZ’s top Finance Leaders about their key career decisions, industry insights, biggest successes or failures or even what skills and attributes they look for when they recruit for their teams. This was a unique opportunity to engage directly with 12 of Auckland’s Finance Leaders, who came from a wide range of sectors and role profiles. This event was proudly sponsored by Robert Walters.  

Health Sector Finance Workshop – Monday 21 & Tuesday 22 October 2019

CA ANZ were proud to sponsor the 17th Health Sector Finance Workshop. This two-day workshop was specifically designed for accounting professionals providing financial service and advice to chief executives, chief financial officers, funding general managers or other managers within the New Zealand health sector. There was an excellent range of speakers who provided presentations, interactive workshops and discussions on a variety of topics relevant to the role of an accounting professional in the New Zealand Health Sector. In addition to providing a professional development and learning event, the workshop provided a valuable opportunity for networking.

Building Knowledge Series: Culture Eats Strategy for Breakfast – Wednesday 23 October 2019

Our latest Building Knowledge event was held on Wednesday 23 October, where we were joined by the Microsoft finance team including Vanessa Cope, Group Chief Financial Officer, Jimmy Lim, ANZ Group Controller – Consumer & Device Sales and Tess Otineru, NZ Financial Controller – Statutory & Tax. They shared their finance journey from single Microsoft Finance Solutions to the reality of Modern Finance today, a world of Dynamics, of ‘Always-on’ and of ‘Powerful analytics and Productivity’. This event was also available via webcast.

Women of Influence Awards– Thursday 24 October 2019

CA ANZ were once again very proud to sponsor the Diversity Category of the Women of Influence Awards on Thursday 24 October at Auckland Town Hall. The Awards night recognises and celebrates women who have committed time and energy to create real change in their industry and communities and are using their influence to achieve great things.  Congratulations to Tapu Misa for the winning the Diversity Category and Jane Harding for winning the Overall Award. An Introduction to Unconscious Bias – Thursday 31 October 2019

In this session participants gained an understanding of the neuroscience underpinning unconscious bias, use of tools and discussion-based learning to identify how we can recognise bias in ourselves as individuals, as well as begin to explore the strategies to create change, and help manage and mitigate unconscious bias. This fascinating session was led by Bev Cassidy-MacKenzie, Director of Diversity Consulting Limited.

Auckland Future of Business Series: Enterprise Risk Management: The Ultimate Guide – Tuesday 5 November 2019

Chartered Accountants ANZ & PwC are co-hosting an informative session on how to bring Enterprise Risk Management to life within organisations, so they respond effectively to uncertainty and achieve their objectives. Risk Management is not only about ensuring an organisation is safe and resilient. It is also about enabling confidence and pace in strategy execution. Upon Completion of this workshop participants will have an understanding of underpinning risk management frameworks, principles and processes, be able to apply these within the context of their own organisation and be equipped with the knowledge to have meaningful conversations within their organisations on how to ensure that their businesses are not only safe and resilient, but that they continue to thrive.

New Members Ceremony – Wednesday 6 November 2019

Congratulations to our newest members on earning the right to put CA, ACA and AT after their name.  Behind these simple letters are years of study and a commitment to ongoing training and the highest professional standards.Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) is thrilled to host a special New Members' Ceremony and cocktail event to celebrate your achievement with family, friends, colleagues and CA ANZ comrades. Nives Botica-Redmayne FCA, Chartered Accountants ANZ vice-president will be attending the event to present the certificates to our new members. 

This event is a highlight in our CA ANZ calendar as we welcome new members into our “family”.  We look forward to supporting you as members who make a positive difference in the communities in which you work and live.

Achiever Welcome – Thursday 14 November 2019

CA ANZ are proud to host the Achiever Welcome event. This event is for the successful Achiever candidates who have proceeded through the Achiever process to be successfully offered Summer Internships with business partners who have offered intern placements. This event is about celebrating this outcome with both Achiever candidates and employers to acknowledge their successful outcome through this process. We look forward to hearing more about their journey.
