Ni sa bula kece sara / Greetings Everyone

This week is Macawa ni Vosa Vakaviti / Fijian language Week and this year’s theme is Noqu Vosa, Ai Vakadei ni Noqu Tiko Vinaka, which means my language provides stability to my wellbeing. Which is quite fitting as we come off a week of Mental Health Awareness Week activities and some really great korero!  If you missed the Pete Clarke’s 3 part Happiness Series – I rate it highly – you can catch them here.

We’re pleased to share that the 2021 CA ANZ Annual Report is available online and can be viewed here.  Additionally, please take note of some important meetings to be held online including the New Zealand Region Annual (Ordinary) General Meeting next week on 13 October and the CA ANZ Annual General Meeting on 29 October, to register visit MyCA.

Important to Note:- A member vote is also being held during October and information on the proposed amendments is available here

Do you know that All farmers must know their on-farm emissions numbers by 31 December 2022?
Join us on Friday for a complimentary session and hear from our expert Panel line-up, facilitated by Charles Rau FCA, Director – BDO Gisborne and member of the CA ANZ Rural Sector Committee and hear more about the work He Waka Eke Noa is doing and learn how to use simple on-farm emission calculators to assist in providing this service to your clients.

Next week we are proud to be launching an Exclusive CPP Community for our members across New Zealand who hold their CPP. This has been designed and brought to life, through consistent member feedback and insights and has resulted in some of our highly respected members in Practice being involved in helping us bring this to life. Register Below.

You may have already noticed that the Government’s recent changes to interest deductibility has been a hot topic in the media, with CA ANZ providing a range of insights.  Also buried in the legislation was an Fringe Benefit Tax change that CA ANZ highlighted, as covered in the NZ Herald.

Other recent media coverage includes a Radio NZ interview and article on our Investor Confidence Survey, and a good summary of CA ANZ and IFA’s Public Trust in Tax survey and our recent cryptocurrency submission on interest.co.nz.

I would be surprised if you didn’t come across some of the hype and celebrations of last week’s #AuditorProud!  I loved overhearing some legendary stories which included some reminiscing of ‘double sided pencils, red, green and black pens, pre-computer audits, counting cow pats and the dangers of shredding machines - It’s well worth revisiting some of the great posts and content on LinkedIn and Twitter.

Calling out for support and participation in the Mentor Exchange Programs – as a Mentee or as a Mentor. We always look to have a diverse range of industry experience and roles to match up, as sometimes we get some pretty unique requests for the type of mentors our members would like to be matched with.

We’ve had requests for anything from:

  • strong financial systems experience and extensive ERP implementation
  • Senior Banking experience
  • to Property development, including feasibility analysis
  • experience in capital raising from the open market
  • experience in preparing for IPO
  • to a journey in starting your own Sole Practice

Read more HERE to sign up – we have Early and Mid-Career, Return to Work and Practice Peer Support Cohorts, so something for everyone! This has been described to me before as “an experience you will reflect on as being a big highlight of your membership journey.”.

Vinaka,
Jeanette

The not-for-profit sector is an important part of our community to which many of our members generously give their time and skills and we think it’s important to recognise and highlight these efforts. We also want to ensure that CA ANZ is in a position to fully support you as you continue to make a difference to your communities. This is why we are asking you to contribute to our Not-For-Profit Survey 2021. If you are providing pro-bono or volunteering services, you are making a valuable difference to your communities and we want to hear from you about it.
