CA ANZ welcomes Green List go live date
Chartered Accountants ANZ (CA ANZ) welcomes the Government’s release of key details for the straight to residence pathway for auditors entering New Zealand, following December’s announcement that they would be added to the Green List.
Auditors will be added to the Straight to Residence Green List pathway on 29 May 2023, with the only principal requirement being remuneration set at a minimum of 1.3 times the median wage.
The announcement comes after ongoing advocacy from CA ANZ for a clearer pathway to residence for auditors entering the country to help address the critical shortage of individuals able to audit both public and private sector entities.
“The decision to add auditors to the Green List is a big win for trust, transparency and confidence in New Zealand’s capital markets, public institutions, charities and the broader economy,” said CA ANZ NZ Country Head Peter Vial FCA.
“Knowing when auditors can arrive and their salary requirements is vital not for just audit employers, but the many listed companies, councils, charities and organisations that rely on quality, timely audits to ensure trust and confidence in their operations.”
“The global market for auditors is very competitive, so this announcement gives New Zealand audit employers the certainty to start looking abroad, to help give New Zealand’s economy the edge it needs,” said Mr Vial.
The Green List straight to residence pathway allows suitable applicants, who are working for an accredited employer or have a job offer from one, the opportunity to live, work and study in New Zealand.
