CA Wellbeing - NZ
Resources for mental health and wellbeing
We recognise that our members can work in stressful environments and sometimes face challenging situations. We aim to connect our members to the resources and information they may need to maintain good mental health, and to help them better manage challenging times and situations with their clients.
Mental Health First Aid Guide for CAs in NZ
While most of us know how to recognise and get help for a medical emergency like a heart attack or an accident in the workplace, spotting a mental health problem and knowing what to do next can be more challenging.
The downloadable Guide for Chartered Accountants – Engaging with people experiencing mental health problems and financial difficulties, created by Mental Health First Aid Australia and Counties Manukau Health, guides you on how to help a colleague or client who's showing signs of developing a mental health problem or is in crisis.

If you have farming and agribusiness clients, you will be in regular contact with the pressures, fatigue and stress that can come with working on the land. These stresses can impact on the mental wellbeing of your clients. CA ANZ recognises the need to provide our rural CAs with the necessary support in challenging times and environment.
We will be inviting our members in rural areas to take part in a GoodYarn workshop. It is a practical workshop designed to give you the tools and confidence to help you include mental wellness as part of your conversations with your clients.
The workshops will be led by facilitators who are trained rural-based experienced and recognised Chartered Accountants, and you receive CPD hours for completing the workshop. You will learn:
- Tips for maintaining mental wellbeing
- How to recognise the signs of stress and common mental health problems
- Practical tools to help you initiate a conversation when you’re concerned about someone
- How to access the right support services
A similar offering is currently being scoped for our non-rural based members. We will bring this to you as soon as it’s available.
