1. Review requirements

To receive recognition as a CA Risk Specialist through the Experienced Pathway, you must: 

• be a Chartered Accountant or an Affiliate with at least 4 years of practical Risk experience within the last 10 years, where at least 20% of employment was in risk and an additional 20% is related to the risk management field of work. 
• successfully complete the online course and assessment through AGSM UNSW within the five years prior to your application for recognition as a Risk Specialist. 

2. Is the Risk Specialisation course right for you?

The CA ANZ Risk Specialisation course is a program targeted at experienced risk professionals. It is best suited to candidates who are already operating at an intermediate to advanced level and who bring at least four years of practical experience working in risk.

To help you make an informed decision before enrolling, we’ve developed a self-assessment tool that allows you to reflect on your professional background and assess whether the course is the right fit for you at this stage of your career.

The self-assessment:

• Helps you evaluate whether your experience aligns with the course’s expectations
• Provides clarity on whether you are ready to undertake an advanced, practice focused program
• Supports better learning outcomes by ensuring participants enter the course with the appropriate level of experience
• Our goal is to set candidates up for success and ensure the course delivers maximum value to those who are ready to benefit from it.

Enrol in the Risk Specialisation Course, via our E-Store.

Enrolments close:  15 September 2026

5. Online course fees

This 8-week online course will cost AU $2704.00 and NZ $3135.00 (incl GST) for members and AU $3516.00 and NZ $4076.00 (incl GST) for non-members.

The course attracts 40 CPD hours.

6. Upon completion

When you have successfully completed the course and practical experience requirements, you can apply to CA ANZ for formal recognition as a CA Risk Specialist.

Approved applicants will receive:

• A welcome email from the Assessment Team containing your approval letter
• A hard copy certificate of recognition
• A welcome email from the Specialisation team with the relevant Specialist signature banner (for your promotional use), links to resources and marketing guide
• Annual specialisation subscription fees:
  • Current FY26 sub fees are $339 AUD, $383 NZD and $308.18 Overseas. (For Pro-rata rates for FY26, please refer to Application for Recognition form.)
  • FY27 sub fees will increase to $350.50 AUD, $395 NZD and $318.64 Overseas. (For Pro-rata rates for FY27, this will be advised when you apply to become a specialist - Application for Recognition form will be updated in September 2026).
• 4 hours of complimentary CPD each financial year (valued at AU$320 incl GST)
• 2 hours of complimentary Ethics CPD to help you meet your mandatory compliance obligations each financial year (valued at AU$195 incl GST)
