Ngā Raumanako and Suzanne Spencer Memorial Māori Scholarships

Two scholarships are available for Māori tertiary students who are studying towards an accounting qualification.

About the scholarships

Ngā Raumanako and Suzanne Spencer Memorial Māori Scholarships are offered to tauira Māori (Māori students) in their second or subsequent year of a tertiary accounting qualification.

The scholarships will provide financial support to help support tauira Māori on their education journey and develop their skills in accounting.

Eligibility

Recipients of both scholarships will be Māori and currently be in their second or subsequent year of a tertiary accounting qualification.

Ngā Raumanako Māori Scholarship

The successful applicant will need to clearly articulate how this scholarship will help them achieve their aspirations in the accounting field and how they can contribute to the economic and financial well-being of Māori hapū (sub-tribe), iwi (tribe), or communities.

The value of the scholarship is $5,000.

The scholarship recipient may also have the opportunity to gain an internship* with one of Te Puna Tahua Toa partners.

Suzanne Spencer Memorial Māori Scholarship

In memory of Suzanne Spencer, a wāhine Māori (Māori woman) who served as the first deputy chair of Ngā Kaitatau Māori o Aotearoa (now known as Te Puna Tahua Toa), the successful recipient will need to demonstrate how they contribute to their hapū, iwi, or community and how they can contribute to the holistic wellbeing of Māori through strong leadership and visionary thinking.

The successful recipient will receive $6,000.

They will also be provided with the opportunity to have a mentor from Te Puna Tahua Toa partners to assist them with their career aspirations.
