Muhamad Umar Swift has more than 30 years of senior leadership experience across financial services, capital markets, corporate governance and strategic transformation in the Asia-Pacific region.
He is currently the Group Chief Executive Officer of Qualitas Health, a leading integrated healthcare platform operating across Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. In this role, he provides strategic oversight of the Group’s regional operations, with a strong emphasis on governance, financial stewardship, operational excellence and sustainable growth. His leadership supports Qualitas Health’s mission to deliver accessible, high-quality, patient-centred healthcare across multiple markets.
Prior to joining Qualitas Health, Umar served as Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia from 2019 to 2024. During his tenure, he led key initiatives to modernise Malaysia’s capital market ecosystem, including digitalisation of market infrastructure, regulatory enhancements and the advancement of sustainability and ESG frameworks. These efforts strengthened Bursa Malaysia’s competitiveness and reinforced investor confidence among domestic and international market participants.
Umar has also held senior leadership positions at Gas Malaysia Berhad, Maybank Berhad, MAA Assurance Berhad and MAA Group Berhad, gaining broad experience across banking, insurance, energy and corporate management. He has served on numerous boards and advisory councils, contributing expertise in finance, risk management and governance.
Umar is a strong advocate for professional integrity, high ethical standards and the continued relevance of the accountancy profession in a rapidly evolving business environment.
Umar is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and serves as CA ANZ Council as the Asia Regional Councillor (covering Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong), supporting CA ANZ’s commitment to professional excellence, regional engagement and the development of future leaders across the profession.
