Joyce Low is a Fellow Chartered Accountant. She started her career in the public sector as an auditor with the NSW Audit Office. Over the last 23 years, she has held a variety of roles in NSW and Federal public sectors: Financial Controller at ASIC; Finance Director at the NSW Ministry of Police & Emergency Services; Finance Director at NSW Dept of Education and most recently she was the Chief Financial Officer at the NSW Public Service Commission.
An opportunity in the not-for-profit sector came up in 2023 that Joyce thought it was too good to miss. She joined the NSW Nurses & Midwives Association and is currently their Chief Operating Officer.
To give back to a profession that had opened so many doors for her, Joyce had been a CA Program focus session facilitator; CA exam papers marker; participated in the CA mentorship program and in 2020, she joined the CAANZ NSW Regional Council. In 2021, Joyce established the NSW Public Sector Advisory Panel where CAs from a cross section of government agencies come together to share insights and promote the CA brand in their workplaces.
Joyce was the winner of the 2022 CA ANZ Government in Leadership Award. It was a humbling experience and has great plans to use her award bursary wisely.
2024 will be a busy and exciting year for Joyce as she Chairs the NSW Regional Council and sits on the CA ANZ Council.
In her spare time, Joyce is a bread slave (lovingly attending to her sourdough starter), she bakes sourdough bread on the weekends – meditation with dough! She is a keen bush walker, completed the last leg (105 kms) of the Camino walk last year and a regular yoga practitioner.
