Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand is proud to publish its Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement for FY24.

Modern slavery – the exploitation of people through coercion, threats or deception to undermine or deprive them of their freedom – is abhorrent. Yet it is estimated to affect as many as 50 million people globally.

This is CA ANZ’s fifth annual statement since Australia’s Modern Slavery Act came into force. It explains the policies, systems and processes we adopt to assess our modern slavery risks and how we aim to eradicate or minimise those risks to keep our people vigilant and our suppliers accountable. This includes:

  • maintaining engagement with suppliers to mitigate modern slavery risks
  • introducing new tools and resources to help our members avoid modern slavery risks
  • embedding modern slavery risk assessments into our policies and procedures.

Eradicating modern slavery remains part of CA ANZ’s advocacy to influence relevant standards, legislation and policy decisions in the public interest. Our aim is to enable our accounting profession to be known for being inclusive, safe and respectful – one that contributes to a global community where modern slavery is unable to thrive.
