New Zealand’s Women of Influence Awards are once again open for nominations. This year, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand is proud to sponsor the Diversity category, recognising women who consistently work towards creating more diverse workplaces through advocacy in the boardroom, government, through lobby groups, in business or within the community.
The award program celebrates women from all walks of life, who make a positive difference. By sponsoring the Diversity award, CA ANZ is applauding those women who contribute to a prosperous and diverse New Zealand.
Award nominations close on Thursday 7 June 2018, with the winners to be announced at a glittering ceremony – the 2018 Awards Dinner to be held at Skycity Auckland on 18 September.
Stuff.co.nz will be profiling some of the Awards' alumni in a weekly series. This doesn’t just highlight the calibre of past winners, it is also designed to encourage readers to nominate the inspirational women they know.
In 2017, the CA ANZ Diversity award was won by Minnie Baragwanath, CEO and founder of social change agency – Be. Accessible. The award was presented former CA ANZ President Cassandra Crowley FCA.
At age 14 Minnie was diagnosed with Stargardt disease, which causes progressive loss of vision. She went on to start social change agency Be. Accessible and in 2014 was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit.
As a social entrepreneur, Minnie Baragwanath is committed to her mission of making New Zealand 100 percent accessible to those with access needs.
