Regional manager update

This month, the Perth office played host to a number of teenagers from selected metropolitan schools over two days. These lucky students participated in the ‘High Achievers Meet Business Leaders’ where they were able to find out more about being a Chartered Accountant and the different and fascinating career paths that CA can take you. Thank you so much to the eight CAs who graciously shared their time and experiences with these groups.

WA, Meet the Business Leaders event

Participants at the High Achievers Meet Business Leaders event

Members who sit on the national Rural and Regional Advisory Committee (RRAC) travelled to Perth, and then down to Mandurah, to hold their regular meeting. They took the opportunity to host a half-day session for over 60 members in the South West where we organised a speaker to discuss Mental Health and warning signs, a tax update from our Tax Lead Michael Croker (fresh off the plan from the Federal Budget lock-up), and panel sessions on the Business Banking Relationship and a Town Hall panel on member issues and perspectives. Thank you so much to the members of the RRAC for taking the time to come to Perth and Mandurah, and a special thank you to the WA representative Maria Cavallo for organising a member bus from Bunbury for the event, and for rallying the troops to come along.

WA, Mandurah meeting May 2018

Mandurah meeting

May also saw the official close of the Mentor Exchange Program. Mentor and mentee pairs gathered at the Terrace hotel on 15th May to compare experiences and share the insights that they had gained. Some of the mentees had undergone significant life events during the process, including relocation interstate and overseas, career changes, getting engaged, and choices for future study. It was fantastic to see the steps that had been made through the mentoring experience. Finally, the Perth office also hosted TAX118 marking, and thank you to the generous CAs that took time off over their weekend to mark. We get feedback from the Education team that the Perth markers are a pleasure to work with, and we hope that translates to more opportunities to assist the CA program in the future.
