We have some office bearer changes in our Regional Council, and welcome Tinashe Kamangira FCA to the Chair position, and Con Abbott FCA to the Vice Chair. We are also very lucky in WA to have Peter Rupp FCA in the position of Vice President Australia, advocating on behalf of members at the Trans-Tasman Level. Thanks to these members, and the rest of our WA Council for 2019.
Our first Regional Council meeting took place on the 6th February and was kindly hosted by members at William Buck in South Perth. Councillors were able to discuss developments in the Education team with visiting Education Lead Simon Hann, and Strategic Initiatives Manager Lisa Thomas. Thanks to Mark Collins FCA and Robin Judd CA for providing a William Buck update and for being such gracious hosts.
Our Not for Profit Board Experience Program commenced with a welcome evening at the end of January. This year sees nine mentor and mentee pairs participating on a range of Not for Profit boards, and thank you to all participating for your amazing energy and enthusiasm. Particular thanks to Derek Parkin FCA for facilitating the welcome event, and to the Young CA Panel for their coordination of the program for another year.
Our Account Management Team enjoyed an afternoon tea at Woodside to award the top of state CA Program candidate for Audit and Assurance, Jessie Liu. Congratulations Jessie on this amazing achievement, and we hope you enjoyed your moment of fame!
As our membership and events calendar ramps up for 2019, the WA team would very much like to thank all members for their continued support and encouragement, and we look forward to seeing you all in the Perth office.

This session held on 30th January focused on hold to balance collaboration with security and ensure the best degree of fit for practice and business.
Running a Practice Panel Session
On the 14th February, this Valentine’s Day treat welcomed the curious as well as those considering rising to the top in a firm or in opening their own firm. Panelists discussed what to expect, the challenges those interested in becoming a Partner should be prepared to face, and shared some of their own stories and experiences. Thanks so much to panel members Patrick Catena, Wendy Davies and David Screaigh, and Facilitator Dean Just for their lively and frank discussion.
