Regional manager update
It’s nearly Christmas, and boy do we have
We are very happy to inform WA members that Peter Rupp FCA, WA Councillor from Deloitte, has been voted national Vice President for Australia. We are very excited to have a local member represent CA ANZ at a national level, and fly the WA flag, so well done Peter!
We are also excited to congratulate all new Fellows from WA who have recently gained their FCA status, very well deserved. Congratulations to the following members who do WA proud: Michael Allen, Baden Bowen, Anthony Cipriano, Loreena Gillon, Felicity Gooding, Peter Lark, Darren Lewsen, Linda Lim, Geoff Lotter, Conley Manifis, Brian McGann, Linda McCormack, Anthea McKinnell, Con Paoliello, Caroline Preuss, Pat Settineri and Peter Toll.
In the WA office, we have been very busy in the lead-up to the festive season. We hosted the high achievers in the CA Program to award Merit certificates for those achieving in the top 5% of candidates. We welcomed new members and public practice certificate holders in a separate ceremony at the end of November. A huge congratulations from the team in Perth on the achievements of all who received recognition for their efforts.
The WA Regional Council and guests hosted the Deputy Premier, the Hon. Roger Cook MLA, at a special lunch at the beginning of the month. The Deputy Premier took guests through achievements and expected performance in his Ministry areas of Health and Mental Health, answering questions on these and associated topics.
With the festive season and the end of year almost upon us, the WA team would very much like to thank all members for their continued support and encouragement. We look forward to working with you all into 2018.

YCA Strategies for Success: Learning Bites: Investment
On 16 November we had James McLeod, Private Wealth Advisor at Capital Partners Private Wealth, give our members an interactive and entertaining presentation on how to enhance your own personal prosperity. Or how you can aid new clients with portfolios of direct shares or managed funds.
CA Women’s Lunch: Women Leading the Way
We were privileged to have the Hon. Kate Doust MLC, President of the Legislative Council and Member for the South Metropolitan Region, join us for lunch. She inspired our CA Women by sharing her experiences in Parliament, her career, the highlights she has experienced along the way and her ideas for future opportunities for women in the WA community.

On Tuesday 21 November we had Kate Dixon, Manager of Professional Conduct & Complaints at CA ANZ present to our members. On Professional Standards Scheme, Professional Indemnity Insurance Cover, Quality Review, Professional Conduct, Claims and other practice information.
GST & WA: What is Our Fair Share: Panel Session
This engaging panel session, facilitated by WA Regional Council representative Con Abbott, discussed the current carve-up, detailed the recommendations the draft report makes, and examined what exactly would constitute a sustainable ‘fair share’ for WA. Thanks to Rick Newnham CCI, Hon Eric Ripper AM, GRA Everingham and Thevin Patmanathan, PwC, for their contribution to the discussion as panelists
At the end of November we held our end of year HR Recruiters meeting. Speaker Sandra Ursino, HR Manager from Pitcher Partners provided an interactive presentation on Attracting High Quality Candidates. Diversity Series: Conversations to Connections
Monday 4 December was a very entertaining evening, where members were placed into random groups and were given impromptu topics to discuss between themselves and spark conversations. Topics ranged from politics to random scenarios, leaving members with a new outlook on networking and some ideas on how to start the conversation in the future.
Retired Members Lunch: Do You See What I See?
For our final event of 2017, we closed off nicely with a lunch with our Retired Members and Geoff Kaye, a cognitive optometrist in private practice in Perth. Geoff gave the members an amusing look at the way our brains can be ‘tricked’ into seeing something which isn’t there, or not seeing something that should be blatantly obvious.
2018, a new year with a new round of events to look out for!
One of our highlights
for next year will be the Sporting Carnivals, where you will see Indoor Beach
