Victoria Regional Update November 2018

Find out what’s been happening in Victoria.

In Brief

  • Victorian Regional Council
  • 2018 Presidents Prize
  • Upcoming Events

Victorian Regional Council

The Council had a great discussion at its October meeting with the Advocacy & Professional Standing team about local advocacy opportunities that will form part of our strategy for 2019 and beyond.

Building a local framework of opportunities, issues and concerns on behalf of the Victorian membership will also play a key role in guiding the organisations overall advocacy strategy.

While the Council has made a start on targeting local issues, I also wanted to encourage the broader membership in Victoria to let me know if there is anything you’d like us to focus on.

2018 President's Prize

The President's Prize recognises a member under the age of 35 who has made a significant contribution to the profession and the community. The winner is chosen from the Young Regional Advocates selected by their respective Regional Councils and overseas committees.

I'm delighted to confirm that the Victorian Young Regional Advocate for 2018 is Lucy Rucinska-Stanek CA.

Lucy has made a significant contribution to the profession through her longstanding role on CA ANZ Victorian Young CA’s Panel, including chairing the panel in 2015-2016. She has made an outstanding contribution to the community as an active member of the Victorian State Emergency Services and was the Victorian nominee for the 2014-15 Australian Volunteers for International Development Program.

Lucy also spent 10 months working in Samoa for South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) as a Business and Financial Skills Trainer, developing value add services for a micro-finance organisation identifying educational needs of women to support them in obtaining micro loans and designing, developing and delivering a pilot Financial Literacy Program to more than 350 women across the islands of Samoa.

The overall winner will be selected by the CA ANZ President and Vice Presidents from among the Young Regional Advocates and will be announced in early December.
