Audit partners or managers invited to participate in research study:
A team of researchers led by Professor Paul Coram FCA at The University of Adelaide are conducting research on the effect of the new requirement to report Key Audit Matters on audit partners and managers’ decision-making that will assist the post implementation review of this auditing standard. The case study should only take about 10 minutes and you can go into a draw to win an Ipad.

Regional Chairs Report - Victoria December 2018
It has been another big year for all of us and it’s safe to say that goes for Chartered Accountants ANZ as well!
I've been honoured to serve as Chair of the Victorian Regional Council during 2018 and I look forward to continuing in that role during 2019 with the ongoing support of my fellow Councillors.
As we near the end of the year and spend time with our family and friends over the festive season, it's a great time to reflect on what's been achieved and importantly what we have to look forward to in the coming year. 2019 will see significant progress being made on delivery of the some of the key strategic initiatives from the Strategic Review of 2017. We can look forward to all members being welcomed into our community connection hub in early 2019, significant progress being made towards delivery of a new Chartered Accountants Program in 2020 and further engagement in our new Innovation Hub CA Catalyst.
Just as importantly we will continue to advocate on your behalf around issues that are important to members in all segments - more news on all of these priorities in the new year!
I'd also like to thank the retiring Councillors for their contribution. At our final Council meeting of the year we will be farewelling 3 Councillors and acknowledging the contributions they've made over many years to Chartered Accountants ANZ (and the Institute...) – former Chair Taryn Rulton FCA and Councillors Timothy Holden FCA and Paul Meissner FCA. Thank you for your input, passion and willingness to give back to the profession and professional body – it's been sincerely appreciated.
We'll also be welcoming new members of the Council in 2019 – Peter Fromont FCA and Deanne Firth FCA and of course the re-elected Councillor Liz Smith FCA.
I also want to say thank you to retiring CA ANZ Councillor David Thompson FCA for his tireless efforts on behalf of the members in Victoria. David was elected by the Victorian Council in 2014 to join the CA ANZ Council and represent us and has done an outstanding job on behalf of all of us. While David will be staying on the Regional Council he has handed over to Duncan Honore-Morris FCA, who was elected to this role by the Victorian Council at the August 2018 Council meeting – best wishes to Duncan in this new role.
On a final note I’d like to thank the team in the Melbourne office of Chartered Accountants ANZ for the wonderful job they do on our behalf. It’s been a challenging year for the profession and they have continued to provide the members in Victoria with outstanding service and support along with a very diverse event calendar members could take advantage off during the course of the year.
Best wishes for a safe and happy festive season and I look forward to seeing you in 2019!
Charles McNeill FCA
Chair – Victorian Regional Council
