Victoria regional update December 2017

Regional update for Victoria, December 2017

In brief

  • Regional Manager's report

So, 2017 has been a big year for many of us and lots of CAs I speak to are really looking forward to having a break over the Christmas period. We often use this time of year to reflect on the achievements of the previous 12 months and in that spirit I would like to recognise and thank all of the Victorian members who have supported CAANZ and their communities during the year.

We are fortunate to have a membership in Victoria that believes in giving back to their profession through involvement and leadership of member discussion groups, panels, focus groups and councils. These individuals are the lifeblood of what it means to be a CA and make Chartered Accountants the respected and connected network that we benefit from.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved and provided their support and input.

Whilst many of us are happy in our roles, recent global cases involving bullying, abuse and intimidation remind me that most professionals do experience difficulties at some point during their career. As respected advisers, CAs may also find themselves under pressure to support or carry out a decision or action that conflicts with our code of ethics. Should this be happening to you or your colleagues, please consider using the Chartered Accountants Advisory Group (CAAG) which will put you in touch with an experienced senior member who can speak to you in confidence about the issue.

Have a wonderful break and a successful and enjoyable New Year.
