Recap of last month's events and activities
November was our last full month of member activities for 2017 and it proved to be a busy one across the South Island Region.
Highlights included the second of our New Member ceremonies for the year in Christchurch where 22 new members were recognised. A total of 77 new members have been recognised at the two Christchurch Presidential Dinners held during 2017 and the November dinner was once again a well-attended event at the Christchurch’s Transitional Cathedral. CA ANZ Vice President Stephen Walker and New Zealand Country Head Peter Vial joined us for the celebrations.
The launch of our inaugural annual member’s dinner in Central Otago held at the stunning Carrick Winery in Bannockburn was a significant highlight not only for November, but for 2017. Forty members with family and friends were on hand to help celebrate with our new members and those who achieved significant membership milestones. We were delighted to have past NZICA President Ross Jackson along with CA ANZ Life Member Dr Ian Ball join us at the event. The dinner was a major success and members who attended are keen to see it added to the annual calendar of events in the region. Next year promises to be an even bigger event.
Central Otago also hosted a Charities Reporting seminar in Cromwell in a joint collaboration with the Central Lakes Trust. Over 40 attended with Mark Peterson of BDO Christchurch delivering a very informative session. Over the last 18 months similar events have been held across the South Island in collaboration with the various regional Community Trust organisations.
November saw the last of our Special Interest Group (SIG) events for the year being held. During 2017 approximately 1,700 members have attended the various SIG events across the South Island. They continue to be the most well attended events on the regional calendar providing cost effective CPD, networking opportunities, and access to quality speakers and organisations. Planning is already well advanced for another full schedule of events for 2018.
