Regional Manager update

May has been a big month of activity in a couple of regions with a Milestone event in Otago where Les Green was in attendance to receive his 60 years of membership certificate. It was a lovely intimate lunch where some fantastic stories were shared. Later that evening we held the Otago Gala where around 160 members, families and colleagues celebrated the new Otago members. Thanks to our NZ Vice President Nives Botica-Redmayne for presenting the awards.

May continues to deliver with our primarily Southland and Otago members attending the Southland Primary Sector update on Friday the 24th. With in-excess of 80 members attending it looks to be a highly successful event (record numbers attending in 2019).

In Canterbury a couple of events were held with Associate Professor Ekhant Veer taking 58 member through a discussion around "Failure and Failing" the differences and how our fear of failure has stifled innovation. Our Corporate SIG also had a fantastic visit to Kilmarnock Enterprises, where CEO Michelle Sharp explained how they are working hard to change the perception of disability employment. Fantastic feedback received about both events.

Nelson/Marlborough….keep your ear our as we are in the planning stages of some member events for the region and we have also started to put the planning in place for the Nelson Marlborough Conference for November 2019.

The regional office has had some changes and additions as well that I am proud to let you know. We have had Nicky Hudson join the South Island team in the Careers Engagement team. We also have Caroline Wagteveld McKenzie coming on board as an Events Specialist in Christchurch. Kate Fallow in our Dunedin office is heading off on Maternity Leave in early June and I will announce her replacement in the next edition.

IMPORTANT REMINDER – We are coming into the time of year where you can nominate members for being considered for Fellowship. Please take time to consider your colleagues who have done great work for the profession in either a business or community context and please do not hesitate to contact me on scott.wagenvoord@charteredaccountantsanz.com to discuss.

Christchurch Milestone Presentation – Friday 14th June

We are delighted to invite members, family and friends to attend a special lunch to celebrate and honour our local milestone members who have attained their 40, 50, 60 and 70 year membership milestones.

2019 Canterbury Business Forum – Thursday 20th June

We are excited that our 2nd Canterbury Business Forum has been launched! This Forum brings together industry leaders from across the region to present on their vision on this year's theme, "Doing Business Differently in the Future". We have a range of speakers lined up from different sectors, who will talk about their journeys and provide future focused insights in what we believe will be an entertaining and informative forum. There is also an opportunity to network with other business professionals from within the Canterbury region.
