- Save the Date – Nelson Marlborough Regional Conference
August was a fantastic month of events, kicking off with the Southland Milestone and Gala events in Invercargill. Both were outstanding celebrations of all the key stages of our fantastic membership…being new members…key milestones and Fellowships. Summaries of the event below and some photo's.
We welcome (back) Kiri Dower as a part time Event Delivery team member in the Christchurch office. Kiri will be primarily supporting the Otago and Southland regions, and will be additional support to the Canterbury/Westland and Nelson/Marlborough regions. Kiri worked for us a few years back and runs her own business, which she continues to do while working for us.
The Christchurch office team did some volunteering at Ronald McDonald House this week (RMH South Island Trust - CC24375). We baked an array of morning and afternoon tea goodies for the people who are currently calling it home. It is a fantastic charity that provides a valuable facility, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. As part of our Everybody Counts Program, all permanent CA ANZ employees may take one day of paid leave per calendar year to undertake work for a community activity of their choice
We held the first CA Catalyst event in Christchurch with 32 members attending the Automation workshop, one of our members travelling from Dunedin. Some fantastic feedback around the workshop, the sharing between members and hearing how they are negotiating the impending changes. Keep an eye out for the next event around Data Analysis and Data Visualization.
On Friday 2 August, we held our annual Milestone Members Luncheon at the Civic Theatre in Invercargill, celebrating our members who have reached significant membership milestones with the organisation. It was great to have 8 out of the 10 Milestone Members in attendance with 5 reaching 25 years, 2 reaching 40 years and Edmund Maloney reaching an astounding 70 years of membership! It was a small and intimate lunch with some great stories shared from those in attendance. We were MC'd by John Schol, Regional Councillor, and joined by Vice President Peter Rupp and past presidents Ross Jackson and Mervyn Gillick.
On Friday 2 August, we held our New Members and Fellow Gala Dinner in Invercargill with a fantastic 157 attendees! We celebrated 19 out of the 23 New Members and our 2018 Fellows Mark Bain, Joe O'Connell and Steve Ruru. A fun night was had by all, and it was great to see all our New Members to the Organisation and hear from our inspiring Fellows. We were MC'd by James Harvey, our Southland LLT Chair, and joined by Vice President Peter Rupp.
Big 4 Expo – Otago University
Earlier this month Chartered Accountants ANZ were a sponsor at the Big 4 Expo held at Otago University.

Questions and ideas were shared on potential future trends and the impact for students, graduates and business communities. It was a fantastic opportunity to mix and mingle with our future talent.
Thanks to Andrew Douglas who was MC, Cory Pearson ad David Winter who attended from our Local Leadership teams and our Sarah Tiffen and George Kenny, our student representatives from Otago University.
