Recap of recent events and activities

It has been a busy start to 2018 in terms of member events across the region.

The Canterbury Fellowship Dinner was held on 22 February at the historic Mona Vale Homestead with six new Fellows and one new Life Member being recognised. A total of 85 members and their guests attended the special event which was hosted by CA ANZ NZ Country Head Peter Vial with guest speaker CA ANZ Vice President Stephen Walker.

Otago also hosted his annual Fellowship Cocktail function at the Dunedin Club on 22 March where six new Fellows were recognised. CA ANZ President Jane Stanton was our guest speaker. Approximately 70 members and their guests attended the special occasion.

Early March saw Christchurch host its first International Women’s Day Event which was attended by approximately 150. Guest speakers Sue Lindsay and Jax Hamilton gave inspired presentations on leadership and their life journeys which were well received by those who attended the event.

The Nelson Marlborough Regional Conference, now in its third year, was held on 15 March and was attended by 90 delegates. The theme for this year’s conference was “Building sustainable businesses, the quest for prosperity”. The conference programme included speakers from NZ Post, NZ Hop Company, Kaikoura Whale Watch, as well as presentations from Westpac, NZIM & Leadership, and our closing keynote speaker Sue Lindsay.

Upcoming major member events

Christchurch will host a “Night at the Museum” in May with guest speakers being the Director of The Canterbury Museum and the CEO of Rata Foundation. The event will focus a spotlight on one of Christchurch’s major NFP Organisations and the South Island’s largest philanthropic funder.

Otago will also be hosting its annual Milestone Lunch and New Member Cocktail function on 10 May.

June will see Canterbury host its first Business Forum with a half day event.  100 delegates are targeted to hear from speakers from the education, primary and tourism sectors. Westpac Senior Economist Satish Ranchod is also confirmed to present at the forum.

The Canterbury New Member Presidential Event will be held in July and an exciting new format for this very popular event is planned.
