Message from the Regional Manager

A big welcome to the region’s eight new members – two Accounting Technicians (ATs) and six Chartered Accountants (CA). We look forward to celebrating these in the coming months.    

Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit

Congratulations to Hawke’s Bay’s Caren Rangi FCA who was awarded an Officer of New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the Pacific community and governance in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. It’s brilliant to see Caren’s work being recognised at this level.  

Craig Norgate Scholarships - applications open

CA ANZ is honouring the memory of Craig, who was an inspirational business leader, with two Scholarship opportunities to support young Kiwi’s setting out on their careers as Chartered Accountants.  CA ANZ is honoured to offer two $5,000 scholarships, open to anyone living or working in New Zealand and Taranaki who has successfully applied, or is planning to apply, in CA ANZ's CA Program  (Applications close 30 June).  

Nominations for Fellowships are open

Each year CA ANZ recognises members’ outstanding achievement, and their contribution to the profession, through advancement to Fellowship.  

Nominations are open until 16 July for Fellowship awards. If you know a member who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession and/or had outstanding career achievements, read more about how to nominate them.

Waikato Gala Event

Over 200 joined to honour and celebrate our members’ achievements. Business Insite: Genesis Energy

Over 60 members had a tour of Genesis Energy’s new state-of-the-art building while learning more about the Genesis story and their finance functions.  The Waikato Leadership Team (LLT) were in attendance and enjoyed meeting members.  Thank you to Genesis Energy for hosting the Business Insite.

Financial Reporting Update

Anthony Heffernan CA, Director of Accounting Standards External Reporting Board provided Waikato members with an up-to-the-minute briefing on developments in Financial Reporting.  

CA Programme Term 2 Welcome Session

New CA Programme candidates met with fellow candidates also commencing their Chartered Accountants journey in a relaxed environment. The event included a presentation from a CA Senior Program Module Leader and a recent graduated CA. Thank you to all involved in the event.  Look out for our Term 3 session in August.   


Sharing Knowledge Breakfast: Fellows Panel Discussion 2018

On Wednesday 6 June, more than 40 Taranaki members and guests joined us for this breakfast event with our panel of Fellows sharing their perspectives on the quest for prosperity, and to discuss how chartered accountants are key players in prosperous communities.  Thomas Brown CA  facilitated this great conversation with Bryce Barnett FCA, Tony Burn FCA, Marilyn Davies FCA and Pauline Lockett FCA
