Regional Manager update

It is that time of year when our thoughts alternately turn to plans for next year, and plans for next week. The two are usually completely the opposite of each other! Our immediate future entails (I hope for everyone) spending relaxing time with family and friends, enjoying long summer evenings and not thinking of work at all. Plans for 2018 have us immediately running at full speed, with deadlines looming, commitments to be met and the pressure back on. I do hope that you all get a chance to enjoy some of the first before you are quickly consumed again by the second.

We would like to take this opportunity to heartily congratulate Queensland’s newest Fellow members. All of whom have been acknowledged for their achievements in the profession and/or their outstanding contribution to community or to their professional body. We look forward to acknowledging their achievement and celebrating with them in early 2018.

I would also like to publicly recognise and thank Troy Popham FCA, our outgoing Queensland Regional Chair for 2017. Troy has been tireless over the past fifteen years in his commitment to supporting and promoting the CA designation and this organisation in his roles on Regional Council and as the Townsville Regional Group chair. Also for being a long-time advocate for Chartered Accountancy with students at James Cook University and in Townsville’s key feeder high schools. I don’t believe for a moment that Troy will relax that dedication once he steps down from Council at the end of the year. Thank you Troy for your humour and energy in supporting our engagement work with members across all regions in Queensland. We wish you all the best for your ongoing role as Managing Partner for Northern Queensland with Crowe Horwath.

With this final Insight piece of 2017 please can we extend our very best wishes to all of our members for a safe, relaxing and happy holiday. Thanks and best wishes also to all of our partners, supporters and stakeholders who have contributed to the successful events that we have delivered through the year. And lastly, the Queensland CA ANZ team look forward to seeing you and supporting you further in 2018 when our offices will be re-opening from 8 January.

Past State Chairs & Committees Lunch

The Brisbane Office held our Past State Chairs & Committees Lunch and invited our Past State Chairs and committee members to the rooms at Waterfront Place to eat, drink and be merry. We said goodbye to 2017’s Queensland Regional Council Chair, Troy Popham FCA, who led the members in the room with one last charge for the year. On behalf of the Queensland Office we would like to thank all of the hard-working members on our various panels and committees for the work and input they put into 2017.
