Queensland Regional Manager Update
Well, Spring must be around the corner as we wrap up the last of our Winter Tax & Super Schools for 2019 and turn our sights towards the end of the year. Thanks to all those members who have attended the Schools this year, with some really good feedback on the program continuing to come from attendees as well as some great networking between members. If you have not been able to join the Tax Schools, and your firm is looking to build some technical training into your development programs, let us know and Nigel Sherborne (Account Manager Public Practice) will be happy to talk through our on-site and community training opportunities with you.
In August we hosted our 2019 President Stephen Walker in Cairns at the annual Members Dinner and Certificate evening (see article), which was a fantastic night. Also this month, the Queensland Regional Council met offsite from CAANZ, kindly hosted at PwC's Brisbane offices with some great interaction with some of the new & current Partners.
What's on the radar for September/October?
See our Events listing or visit the Store – highlights are sure to include our exclusive panel session with some of the Xerocon heavyweights for our September Sharing Knowledge on the intersection of accounting & technology, our Not-for-Profit Building Knowledge breakfast on state duties & taxes, Toowoomba Members Group WorkCover Qld Update, and our Members in Business Building Knowledge session on Cyber Security as a Business Risk here in Brisbane.
There is plenty on and we hope to see you soon – if you are not receiving our event emails and would like to do so, please visit your My CA page to update your communication settings.

Recap of Events
Cairns Members & Certificate Presentation Ceremony Dinner with President Stephen Walker
A great night in FNQ this month, with some 70 guests attending the Members' Dinner and Certificate Presentation Ceremony, hosted by Penny Ellenger, QLD Regional Manager, Peter O'Regan QLD Regional Council Chair and the team. So much talent resides in our regional centres, with Merit certificates presented to 4 very clever provisional members, 5 new full members and milestone acknowledgements for Mark Wedrat (25 yrs) and Doug King (40 yrs) – Congratulations to you all!
Southside Members’ Building Knowledge Breakfast
As a trusted adviser, your clients expect you to keep on top of significant legal developments and trends which might affect them. We had a great turnout at the Southside Members' Building Knowledge Breakfast at The Glen Hotel on Tuesday 13th August, with the team from Results Legal presenting on a range of current topics, handpicked for their relevance to accountants and their clients respectively.

Opportunities and updates
Young CA Indoor Sports Competition
All members are invited to take the challenge and enter a team in this year's carnival. Players of all levels and experience are welcome and individual registrations will be available so there is no excuse not to get among the action. This year we will have a round robin competition consisting of DodgeBall, Netball & Soccer. Everyone plays each team in the pool once in each sport, then the teams on top of each ladder play a 'one game final' to determine the overall winner, which will be announced on the day. Teams will need to be made up of a minimum of 6 people and a maximum of 8 people. If you can’t make a team, please still register and a team will be created for you.
