Frequently asked questions

  • Why are we looking at new pathways?
CA ANZ is looking for enhanced and innovative ways to recognise the previous study and experience of accountants who have trained overseas. To this end, the Programme is designed to cater for wide-ranging education and training needs.
  • Who is eligible for the programme?

Only Chartered Accountants of Designated Overseas Member Bodies (see below) are eligible to apply for the pilot programme. Applicants must have completed the professional programme of their homebody, have the required pre/post practical/professional experience specified for the designated home professional body, be in good standing and comply with CPD requirements of their home professional body to be eligible to apply. Yes. This pilot pathway is available to members of each of the Designated Overseas Member Bodies who are currently living in Australia or New Zealand.
  • What if I am not able to attend scheduled workshops in Sydney or Melbourne?

If you are not able to attend scheduled workshops in Sydney or Melbourne, you may apply for the Capstone Module of the CA ANZ CA Program (Capstone) which is an alternate offered to the Programme. Capstone is currently offered at many locations across Australia and New Zealand. Membership with CA ANZ can be gained on completion of either the Programme or Capstone.

  • Does the relevant post membership experience have to be consecutive?

Participants need to have completed the required period of relevant post membership experience in full at the date of their application. But this does not necessarily have to be completed in consecutive years.

If you are a fully qualified member of a Designated Overseas Member Body but have taken a recent career break, you may still be eligible for this pathway. That said, you must meet the required criteria and have sufficient recent experience to enable you to participate in the workshop for the Programme.

  • What do members of Designated Overseas Member Bodies need, to be eligible for recognition as a CA ANZ member?

If you are a current full member (CA member who has been admitted to membership through the professional programme pathway) of ICAI, CA Sri Lanka or ICAP you will need to complete the Programme to be eligible for recognition as a member of CA ANZ.

If you are a current full member (CA member who has been admitted to membership through the professional programme pathway) of ICAN you will need to complete the CA ANZ Financial Accounting and Reporting module (FIN) prior to completing the Programme to be eligible for recognition as a member of CA ANZ.
