New Zealand Income Insurance Scheme (NZIIS) Employer Survey

ACC is seeking feedback from employers on the proposed NZ Income Insurance Scheme

The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) is leading the planning for the development of a proposed New Zealand Income Insurance Scheme. The intention is that the Scheme could play an important role in supporting workers and employers during economic shocks and changes.

Research is being conducted with workers and employers to inform the Scheme’s development.
One element is a survey of employers to better understand experiences of dealing with redundancy situations, or when staff have their ability to work impacted by a health condition or disability. These could be in employer/managers current role, or in a previous role, or organisation.

The survey takes around 5-10 minutes and is confidential. It is open till 31 January 2023.

The information collected will be used to inform the way ACC implements and manages the proposed
scheme and better ensure it meets user needs.

The survey is being conducted by GravitasOPG, an independent research company on behalf of ACC. All the information provided will be kept confidential and stored securely by GravitasOPG. Responses will not be given to ACC or any other organisation in a way that identifies respondents or organisations.

If you have any questions or concerns about the survey, please contact Emily Hendry-Follows from the GravitasOPG. If you wish to check the legitimacy of the research, you are welcome to contact Sarah Hudson at ACC.

Chartered Accountants ANZ has previously submitted on the proposed Scheme as consulted on by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). Given the significant and wide-ranging implications of the proposed Scheme, we engaged directly with our members about the proposal through a variety of different channels. From this engagement, it is very clear that the proposed Scheme polarised our members.
