Shelly Mitchell-Jenkins FCA appointed chair of Electra

Electra Trust has appointed Shelly Mitchell-Jenkins FCA as chair of the Electra Board of Directors. Electra is wholly owned by the more than 45,000 electricity consumers connected to the Electra network.

Chair of the Electra Trust, Sharon Crosbie said "Shelly will provide the board with focused leadership and strong governance and is committed to the direction the business is heading in".

Ben Buchanan CA joins convention centre executive team

Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre has appointed Ben Buchanan CA as a member of its executive leadership team.

Ben, whose career spans a number of convention centres and entertainment venues, is Director of Business Services at the convention centre which opens next year. Following his first venue role with the finance team at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Ben moved to Newcastle Entertainment Centre before becoming one of the first employees in the ICC Sydney pre-opening team.

Richard Chew CA takes up CFO role at Cooks Global Foods

Cooks Global Foods has appointed Richard Chew CA as CFO.

Richard, who has picked up New Zealand CFO of the Year finance leader and finance team awards, has two decades of senior management experience. He is a non-executive director of digital content creation company Mob Live and Mahi Tahi Media and was Global CFO and founding shareholder of 90 Seconds.

Margaret Germain CA Auckland Racing Club's new CFO

Auckland Racing Club has appointed Margaret Germain CA as its Chief Financial Officer.

Formerly Finance Lead at Microsoft covering the Australia and New Zealand public sector, Margaret has more than 20 years' experience working in a broad range of roles across finance, including strategic planning, financial management and system/process improvement.

She has worked for Deloitte in both the Auckland and Melbourne offices. Since then she has spent time in Australia, the Netherlands and Korea for Microsoft.

Tracey Hook CA new CEO at Ngāti Awa Group Holdings

Ngāti Awa Group Holdings has appointed Tracey Hook CA (Te Ati Haunui a Pāpārangi and Ngā Wairiki) as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Tracey has worked as Tumutahua, Executive Director Finance of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa and Acting CFO and Group Financial Controller at Tainui Group Holdings. Ngāti Awa Group Holdings was established by Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Awa to undertake commercial activities on its behalf.

Jeff McDowall CA to take up Acting CEO position at Air NZ

Air New Zealand has announced Jeff McDowall CA will take up the position of Acting Chief Executive Officer, stepping down for an interim period from the position of Chief Financial Officer.

Jeff joined Air New Zealand in 2000 and was appointed CFO in January 2018. Prior to this, he was Group General Manager Corporate Finance and Group General Manager Commercial at Air New Zealand. Jeff has worked in a variety of businesses during his career, including as a management consultant with PwC in New Zealand, Singapore and the United States, and with Mobil Oil in New Zealand and the United Kingdom

Air New Zealand CEO Chris Luxon will leave the airline on 25 September.

Harmoney ushers in David Stevens CA as CEO

Marketplace lender Harmoney has welcomed David Stevens CA into the business. He steps into the CEO role in early 2020.

David has most recently led a start-up, MiFund, a provider of medical payment options for patients in Australia. Before that, he served as CFO and then MD of FlexiGroup, a diversified financial services company focusing on commercial and consumer finance in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.

Tina Stevenson ACA appointed community trustee

The Community Trust of Mid and South Canterbury has welcomed Tina Stevenson ACA as a new trustee.

Tina is the Corporate Service Group Manager at Waimate District Council. Her trustee roles include the Waimate District Charitable Foundation, Waimate Fire Brigade Educational Trust and several years of past school board of trustee experience.

The Community Trust uses returns from investments to support not-for-profit organisations and projects which contribute towards achieving a region of healthy, vibrant and caring communities.

Pamela Walklin CA to head new Taranaki clean energy centre

Pamela Walklin CA has been appointed General Manager, Establishment, of the National New Energy Development Centre to be based in New Plymouth.

Her role will be integral to establishing the National New Energy Development Centre, which is planned to be up and running in mid-2020. The Coalition Government announced the clean energy centre in May. It will look at emerging clean energy options such as offshore wind, solar batteries, hydrogen and new forms of energy storage.

Pamela takes up the role in early September. Her previous roles include with The Lines Company and FCL Metering, Powerco, Wells Group and King Country Energy.
