Jolie Hodson FCA to be next Spark Chief Executive
Spark New Zealand has appointed Jolie Hodson FCA, currently Customer Director at Spark, as Spark's new Chief Executive.
Spark's Chair Justine Smyth said Jolie is an accomplished leader with a strong record of delivering results and managing complex business units.
"She has had experience across most major parts of Spark's business since she joined the company in 2013. As board directors, we have had the opportunity to work closely with Jolie over recent years on a range of important company matters and we have been consistently impressed with her business acumen, her strategic vision and her quality decision making".
Jolie, who was New Zealand CFO of the Year at the 2016 Deloitte Top 200 Awards, takes up her new role on 1 July 2019.
Carole Adair CA promoted to partner at Polson Higgs
Carole Adair CA, who started when Polson Higgs was formed in 1997, has been promoted to partner, while Ryan Ehlers CA has been promoted to associate. Carole joins existing partners Henry van Dyk CA, Michael Turner FCA, Steve Dunbar CA and Tim Dunn CA.
She was part of the team in 1997 when the Dunedin business was acquired from Price Waterhouse by founders Stephen Higgs and Ray Polson. She has strong interests in the charities and health sectors.
Smiths City makes Michael Hindmarsh CA Group Chief Financial Officer
Retailer Smiths City has appointed Michael Hindmarsh CA as Group Chief Financial Officer.
Michael has had an extensive career in retail having spent over 15 years with the NZ retailer Hallenstein Glasson Holdings. He has relocated from Auckland to join Smiths City and started his role on 1 April.
Simplicity appoints Anna Tierney CA as independent director
KiwiSaver scheme provider Simplicity has appointed Anna Tierney CA as an independent director.
Joy Marslin, Chair of Simplicity said Anna brought "regulatory experience as well as governance, finance and accounting skills to ensure all our stakeholders are well served as we continue to challenge the status quo".
Anna has worked in both the public and private sectors. She has a strong history in specialising in the areas of fraud and risk through her experience as a forensic accountant at the Serious Fraud Office and Ernst & Young.
BDO wins at MYOB Business Awards
BDO New Zealand has scooped a prestigious partner award at MYOB’s The Connected Business: 2019 Enterprise Solutions Partner Conference at the gala awards ceremony in Noosa, Australia.
BDO won the Excellence in Business Development: MYOB Advanced Award for sales of MYOB's Advanced Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution in New Zealand.
