Regional Manager Update

It has been a very busy year for the NSW team so far.

During the last few months, there have been many events facilitated by the team not only in the Sydney area but also in Newcastle, Armidale, Albury, Wagga, the Illawarra and Central West regions and also the Central Coast.

We also work very closely with members’ representatives on Regional Council and the Young CAs Panel, as well as providing timely and relevant support through the CA Advisory Group.

NSW Regional Council Elections

The outcome of the NSW elections was announced at the NSW AGM on 17 October. There were seven candidates for three positions and the successful candidates were: Alison Fleming FCA, Ben Wong CA and Camille Woodward CA.  Their term on Council will begin in January.

We would like to extend our thanks to the other interested members who had nominated in this year’s election.

I would also like to extend my personal thanks to Timothy Kirby, Andrew Robertson and Heather Watson for their contribution to and engagement with NSW members during their term on Council. These three members will be retiring from Regional Council in December.

Small Business Workshop No. 3 discussion group - invitation to join

The Small Business No. 3 members’ discussion group is keen to welcome members to join their group. Discussion groups provide an excellent forum for sharing and gaining knowledge on matters of mutual interest, with regular updates at their meetings on topics ranging from Income Tax, CGT and CGT Small Business Concessions, Superannuation, State Taxes, Estate Planning, Tax Structures, Dispute Resolution and more.

The Small Business No. 3 group meet every third Tuesday of the month at 6pm in the CA offices at Erskine Street. If you are based near the Sydney CBD area and are interested in finding out more about this group, please contact the group chairman Simon Cathro FCA, on 02 9249 1208 or email

NSW Events Update

NSW High Tea Debate

The 2018 annual High Tea event was held on Friday 21 September and we were delighted to welcome guest speakers Catherine Fox and Ken Woo FCA.  This is one of our key fund raising events and I would like to thank the many members who attended and helped us raise more than $19,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Upcoming events:

Certificate Presentation Ceremony for recent new members and CA Program merit award recipients will be held on 6 December.

I look forward to meeting members at some of these key events.
