Overview from NSW Chair

This will be my last article as Chair of the NSW Regional Council.

I greatly enjoyed the role and appreciated the opportunity to lead Regional Council in 2018, and would like to extend my thanks to Council colleagues for their support.

During 2018 NSW Regional Council represented members by providing their input on various Chartered Accountants ANZ initiatives. Councillors also engaged with members and attended various events, which include certificate presentations for new Fellows, new members, CA Program Merit Award recipients, and the membership Anniversary recognitions, as well as general updates, including events in regional NSW.

I would like to acknowledge the dedication and contribution of Tim Kirby FCA and Andrew Robertson CA, who will be retiring from Council in December. Tim and Andrew have taken the role of representing the members of NSW very seriously and have been generous in their efforts during their three-year terms.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Heather Watson FCA, who also retires, for her exceptional contribution to NSW Regional Council and the NSW members during her tenure as Councillor for two terms and as a past NSW Chair. Heather has also admirably represented NSW on the CA ANZ Council and we thank her for her commitment there.

I am very pleased to advise that George Bogdanovic FCA has been appointed as NSW Chair, and Peter Woodley CA as NSW Vice Chair of NSW Regional Council for 2019.

It was encouraging to see members demonstrating their interest in their professional body this year when seven members nominated in the Regional Council elections. The outcome of the elections was announced at the NSW AGM on 17 October and the successful candidates were: Alison Fleming FCA, Ben Wong CA and Camille Woodward CA, who will commence their term on Council in January 2019. I look forward to working with Alison, Camille and Ben next year.

Congratulations Camille, Young Regional Advocate for NSW

As the Young Regional Advocate for NSW, Camille Woodward is nominated for the 2018 CA ANZ President’s Prize, an award from CA ANZ, awarded to a Chartered Accountant under the age of 35. She joins a pool of 12 Young Regional Advocates nominated for the President’s Prize.

Camille has been active in the profession, participating on the Young Chartered Accountants (YCA) Panel and representing findings to the Board. In the last few years, Camille has played a key role in increased nominations to the YCA Panel and has made professional presentations at various seminars.

In the community, Camille has served as non executive director and treasurer for Bridges Mental Health Rehabilitation and Recovery Services as well as executive director and member of the Finance Committee of the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) Australia.

Camille is currently an accounting academic at the University of Technology Sydney and Macquarie University and mentors students by providing advice on resume writing and working in the profession. She has also been an advocate for various initiatives including the CA ANZ NSW Entrepreneurs Discussion Group.

Congratulations Camille on being named the Young Regional Advocate for NSW.
