- NSW Regional Council update
- Presentation to 75 year member
- Upcoming NSW events
As NSW Chair, I was pleased to have the opportunity to host recent events including a managing partners’ luncheon with members from the mid-tier firms, and a sharing knowledge update on the Treasury Laws Amendment (Whistleblowers) Bill 2017 which comes into effect on 1 July 2018.
In April, I was also very pleased to share the stage with Vice President, Stephen Walker FCA, at the first of this year’s Certificate Presentation Ceremonies for new members, and provisional members receiving a Merit Award. This is always a great night with the opportunity my colleagues and I to not only meet many of our young members but also their very supportive family and friends.
The NSW Regional Council met in May and our discussions covered our strategy and focus, Fellowship nominations, member awards, succession planning, our change advocacy role and various governance matters. We were also joined by Mark Rice, the new head of Member Engagement.
75 year milestone
NSW Regional Councillor, Kate Boorer FCA, and NSW Regional Manager, Alison MacDonald, were delighted to join Roy Glover FCA, at his recent birthday celebrations, to have the opportunity to present Roy with his 75 year membership certificate.
Roy became a CA just after the war and initially was two years too young to sit the CA exams, so in the interim studied and became a member of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries. Roy has had a long and distinguished career as a CA, and also as a lay minister with the Uniting Church.
Advancement to Fellowship
A great way we can recognise our peers for their outstanding achievements and professional contribution is by nominating them for advancement to Fellow. If you know someone who has distinguished themselves and made an outstanding contribution to the profession and/or the community you may want to nominate them. The new guidelines and nomination form are on the CA website.
- World Congress of Accountants 2018 is coming to Sydney in November and I encourage you to attend. For more information go the WCOA website.
