Regional Chair Update
As NSW Chair I am delighted to have an opportunity to represent you, and act as an advocate both on behalf of our NSW members as well as the organisation in my role as a NSW Councillor.
I have been a Chartered Accountant since 1996 and I was elected to Regional Council from January 2017. I have had an ongoing relationship with the organisation since 2013 when I joined the NSW Corporate Advisory Panel.
I am looking forward to working closely with my colleagues on Regional Council as well as engaging with other panel members, to ensure we represent a wide cross‑section of the NSW membership.
In 2019 our strategic plan includes a significant focus on working with CA ANZ management to look at ways to enhance member services including effectiveness of the CA ANZ website, member service centre, and support for member‑run events in metro, regional and country areas.
I very much look forward to hosting a range of events throughout the year and meeting with members to hear their feedback and ideas on key issues affecting the profession. I encourage all members to take the opportunity to attend as many events as possible, as these are invaluable opportunities to network with our peers and build stronger relationships.
Regional Council’s next meeting is on 8 April and will include finalising our 2019 engagement strategy. If you have any feedback you would like to provide Regional Council, we are always very keen to hear from Members, and you can contact us via email. Email the NSW Council - NSWCouncil@charteredaccountantsanz.com
NSW member engagement
My Regional Council colleagues have been attending events in the early part of 2019, with Ben Wong travelling to Dubbo to represent us at a new member event on 7 March, and vice chair Peter Woodley joining colleagues at the 94th Golf Tournament and dinner on 8 March. Peter also joined the recent meeting of the NSW Regional Country Chairs group in Sydney to provide an update on Council initiatives. And in April Councillor, Kate Boorer will be travelling to Armidale to facilitate a training session for members. Kate is also the NSW representative on the CA ANZ Council from 2019. Councillors Sam Ayoubi, Ben Wong and myself will also be attending the Accounting Conference on 8 April in Sydney, and we look forward to meeting with many of you there.
As Chair it was my great pleasure to congratulate and present certificates to our new Fellows in March at an Awards ceremony in the Sydney office. And at the same event present a Meritorious Service Award to long standing member Thea Foster FCA. Thea has significantly contributed to our profession and members over many years – particularly our members in public practice, and has recently retired. We thank her and we wish her many happy years of retirement.
