- NSW Regional Council meeting
- Events update and upcoming events
As a member representative on NSW Regional Council I am honoured to have been elected as the 2018 NSW Chair. I look forward to continuing to work with my Regional Council colleagues, including Vice Chair, George Bogdanovic, and also working with management in supporting our members.
NSW Regional Council held its first meeting on 26 February and focused on our role as advocates of members and the organisation and our strategy for 2018. We also welcomed to the meeting Matt Lancaster, the new relationship manager in NSW for the Indigenous Accountants Australia initiative. Matt and his colleagues are working with universities to promote accounting as a profession and support Indigenous students undertaking business, finance and accounting studies. At the end of the meeting we were also joined by the YCA Panel to briefly discuss the governance structure as it relates to young members and provide an opportunity for them to network with Councillors.
We are a member organisation and Regional Council represents the membership, therefore I strongly encourage you to attend events and talk to your representatives. This enables us to provide you with updates on any initiatives, and to take your feedback to management.
As advised in recent communications the organisation undertook a strategic review in 2017 resulting in key initiatives being agreed with the Board. Further information is available via the CA ANZ website.

Being originally from New Zealand, I enjoyed the opportunity to meet other members from NZ at the Waitangi Day BBQ on 6 February. But I am pleased to say the event attracted more than just those who originally hailed from NZ. Also in February some of my Regional Council colleagues attended very successful events for members in the public sector on coping in the changing workplace and young chartered accountants on getting on to Boards – what to know; how to develop skills and what obligations there are.
As NSW Chair I am looking forward to hosting two upcoming celebratory events. The first on 27 March is a presentation ceremony to recognise and present certificates to new Fellow CAs in NSW. Secondly, on 18 April we will hold the first of three NSW Certificate Presentation Ceremonies for new members and CA Program Merit Award recipients.
Please note this year, following member feedback we have moved the 43rd Annual Sailing Regatta to the second half of the year. It will be held on Thursday 18 October and will be a charity event in 2018. Sailors note your diaries and start putting together your crew.
