Regional Manager update

As Regional Manager I recently attended meetings of the NSW Regional Council and the Young CAs Panel.

The Regional Council is an integral part of the governance structure of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and is an advocate for members and the organisation and Council’s key focus is member engagement.

As advised by the NSW Chair last month Regional Council is currently finalising their strategy for 2019 and welcome members’ feedback and ideas to help them engage with the membership. The Council wants to engage as widely with NSW members as they can.

Details for NSW Council can be found on the website and if members wish to contact the Council please email nswcouncil@charteredaccountantsanz.com.

The YCA Panel helps us to engage with the significant young member segment. They are currently working with our team on identifying relevant topics and events for the rest of 2019. The Panel can be contacted with ideas or enquiries via email Young.ProfessionalsPanel@charteredaccountantsanz.com.

NSW events held

Certificate Presentation Ceremony (CPC)

On 4 April over 600 members and guests attended the first Presentation Ceremony for 2019 for new members and CA Program Merit Award recipients. We were delighted to welcome Vice President Peter Rupp FCA who presented certificates, along with NSW Chair, George Bogdanovic FCA.

The NSW Chair was also pleased to welcome guest speaker Camille Woods CA and to present her with the Young Regional Advocate Award for her significant contribution to the organisation, the profession and her colleagues.

Camille gave a very inspiring speech to the new members of CA ANZ. She spoke about the skills they had mastered by undertaking the CA Program; and gave her recommendations for what life could hold ahead with those skills and achievements behind them: being involved in the CA ANZ community; learning together and professional development; building networks and friendships and contributing to the wider community.

As ever there was a wonderful atmosphere on the night, with happy and proud new members, candidates and their families and friends. These events are truly among the highlights of the year for the NSW team.

I was pleased to attend the Building Knowledge Series: event: How to be an accountant of the future, on 17 April and listen to guest speaker David Boyar FCA, Founder and CEO of Sequel CFO, who spoke with great passion and enthusiasm. David is very involved with CA Catalyst and encouraged those in attendance to engage with the Catalyst community. More details are also available via My CA.
