The Council of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand elects a new President and Vice President, and appoints three new directors to the Board, effective 1 January 2018

Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand’s Council has endorsed Jane Stanton FCA as the new President for 2018, effective 1 January 2018.

Jane served as Vice President in 2016 and 2017. She has more than 20 years of experience in internal and external audit, risk management and finance. She is currently employed by Suncorp Group, and has also worked for Macquarie Group and PwC.  Jane has lived and worked in Europe, North America and Asia. She holds several non-executive director and committee positions in the not-for-profit and education sectors.  

Jane has been a facilitator and marker for the ICAA’s Chartered Accountants Program, and she was previously the Chair of the New South Wales Regional Council. She was a recipient of the ICAA’s President’s prize. 

Council also elected Peter Rupp FCA as Vice President Australia to replace Jane, effective 1 January 2018. Peter is a Partner at Deloitte in Perth where he leads the Deloitte Private audit team. 

Audit New Zealand Executive Director Stephen Walker FCA continues as Vice President New Zealand. Both Peter and Stephen will sit on the Board as observers. 

The Council approved the appointment of three new directors for the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand Board to replace those whose terms conclude at the end of 2017. The newcomers are Rob McDonald FCA, Chris Townend FCA and Cheryl Hayman. The three, who have been appointed for three years, take up their roles on 1 January 2018.

Rob has been Air New Zealand’s Chief Financial Officer since 2004.  He previously worked at Coopers & Lybrand and British Telecom, and has been a non-executive director of Contact Energy, a top-five NZX-listed entity, since 2015.

Chris is an experienced non-executive director, having sat on the boards of a broad spectrum of organisations in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. He currently sits on the boards of Osler Technology Ltd and Thomson Adsett, among others. Chris has held senior finance roles in Australia and New Zealand.

Cheryl Hayman joins as a non-member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand Board, succeeding Louise McCann. Cheryl’s background is in marketing, and she is a professional non-executive director. She has held senior leadership roles at George Weston Foods, Yum Restaurants International and Unilever in Australia, NZ and the UK. She currently sits on the boards of HGL, Clover Corporation and the Australian Institute of Food, Science and Technology, among others.
