Congratulations to our new NSW CAs

On Thursday 20 April, New South Wales hosted their first New Member Ceremony of the year.

In brief

  • Celebrating our newest CAs in NSW
  • A recap of NSW’s first New Member Ceremony of 2023

Last week, the Fullerton Hotel Sydney bustled with NSW’s newest Chartered Accountants at our New Member Ceremony. Over 160 new members were pronounced CAs with a further 250 guests in the audience celebrating their achievements.

The ceremony began with a Welcome to Country from Aunty Donna Ingram and Tigga Bayles, followed by an introduction and welcome from our NSW Regional Manager, Renee Feltrin FCA. She acknowledged that Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand are so proud of the work our new members have completed and thrilled to see where the future takes them.

Joanna Balcomb FCA, NSW Regional Chair then inspired our new members, acknowledging their hard work and encouraging them to build upon their achievements, believe in themselves and to follow their ambitions. She also thanked the many husbands, wives, partners, parents, children, and others, who provided support to each of our new CAs during their time of study.

The cohort were presented their certificates by Vice President Tinashe Kamangira FCA and NSW Council Chair Joanna Balcomb FCA. Other members of the NSW Council and the NSW Young Chartered Accountants Panel also joined to celebrate the future opportunities ahead of our new CAs.

Charlotte Fehon CA, keynote speaker for the evening addressed the new cohort, speaking about the endless benefits of the CA designation as well as offering some pearls of wisdom. Charlotte who was previously Chair of the NSW YCA Panel and currently sits on the NSW Council spoke about how the accounting profession is truly in its finest hour, with accounting roles going much further beyond numbers and data.

After the formalities, members had the opportunity to network with our Young Chartered Accountants Panel to hear about the events, initiatives, and opportunities they can get involved in. With many our Young CAs present on the night, our new members were able to ask questions about the impact and opportunities being involved with Young Chartered Accountants has given them.

Members also took the time to catch up with fellow members who they undertook the Chartered Accountants designation and celebrate the good times together.
