Con Abbott FCA wins Meritorious Service Award

WA Council, colleagues and friends gathered to celebrate Con Abbott FCA’s Meritorious Service Award.

In Brief

  • Con Abbott has a long history of exemplary service
  • He is an advocate for potential and up-and-coming members
  • He is very generous in lending his time and experience to colleagues and tertiary students

WA stalwart Con Abbott FCA has been recognised for many years of service to CA ANZ with a Meritorious Service Award.

This award is recommended by the Trans-Tasman CA ANZ Council of members on advice from regional councils for outstanding and distinguished service to CA ANZ over and above what is expected of an office bearer or could reasonably be expected through voluntary contribution to the organisation.

Abbott has a long history of exemplary service to the Institute and CA ANZ. He was the State Manager for Western Australia from 2000 to 2008; was a Regional Council member from 2014 to 2019; and assumed the role of Vice Chair in 2019.

Abbott is very well known in the profession locally, as he takes being a CA very seriously and ensures he upholds the values of the profession and the prestige of the designation. He takes the time to engage with local WA members across a range of issues and has done so over many years.

He is a fantastic advocate for potential and up-and-coming Chartered Accountants and is very generous in lending his time and experience to colleagues and tertiary students, particularly during his time lecturing and tutoring in accounting studies at UWA, the University of Notre Dame and Murdoch University.

The WA Council, colleagues and friends came together to celebrate the award with Abbott on 21 May. He joins a small list of WA-based recipients:

  • Henry Crawford (1988)
  • Richard Fayle (1999)
  • Trevor Gorey (2000)
